LO: Learn about muscle
groups.
Being Healthy
Everyone can benefit from regular
exercise.
You can have stronger muscles and
bones
You can control body fat
Your less likely to become overweight
You can decrease the risk of
developing illnesses such as diabetes
and possibly lower blood pressure
and blood cholesterol levels
Stretching
Stretching exercises help improve
flexibility, allowing muscles and
joints to bend and move easily
through their full range of motion.
Kids look for opportunities every day
to stretch when they try to get a toy
just out of reach, practice a split, or
flip over the couch.
Main Muscle Groups
1. Pectoral (chest)
2. Biceps (front upper arm)
3. Abdominal (stomach)
4. Quadriceps (front thigh)
5. Gastrocnemius (calf)
6. Hamstrings (back thigh)
7. Buttocks (seat)
8. Triceps (back upper arm)
9. Groin (inner upper leg)

Types of Stretching
There are two types of stretching. Ballistic
stretching is a repetitive, bouncing stretch
that research has shown is not good for
the muscles and tendons.
Static stretching is a low, continuous
stretch. This type of stretch is
recommended for stretching exercises
