The student will be an active participant in the consultative service of the
ID section, thus gaining direct experience with a variety of infectious
diseases. The student, through didactic and less formal instruction, will
be provided with insight into general and specific approaches to the
diagnosis and therapy of infectious diseases. The student will gain
exposure to the capabilities of the clinical microbiology laboratory by
participating in nearly daily ‘plate rounds’ and will gain an appreciation of
those procedures complementing routine bacteriology. The student will
be an active participant in the weekly clinical conference.
