What it is, my brother
• In average suburban life style everyone
has their own septic tank for waste
water. In a more urban surrounding, the
people use one big septic tank known
as the waste water facility. The bacteria
at the facilty clean the water and get rid
of all the waste, then the water is clean
enough to be dumped into the Puget
sound!
What’s the Problem
• Two main factors in waste
management.
Pollutants going into the streams of
Puget sound.
During winter high storm water flows
can cause flooding and property
damage.
What’s Being done!
• Low Impact Development (LID) Is a set
of stromwater management practices
that hold great promise for improving
the way we develop land and manage
stromwater.
What you can do
•

Wash your car at a commercial car wash.
Cut down on fertilizers.
Remove part or all of your lawn.
Pick up after your pets and make sure
your animals stay out of streams.
