PGMARROW PROCEDURE: CT guided bone marrow biopsy via the right iliac crest. CLINICAL INDICATION: PHYSICIAN: Dr. Paul Gryzenia. MEDICATIONS: Subcutaneous 2% lidocaine, 0.25 mg Versed, 25 mcg fentanyl. COMPLICATIONS: None immediate. RADIOLOGIST INTRASERVICE TIME/CONSCIOUS SEDATION TIME: _ minutes. The patient was monitored throughout the procedure by the IR nurse. I was personally present in the above mentioned conscious sedation time. PROCEDURE/FINDINGS: The risks and benefits of the procedure were explained to the patient and consent was obtained. The patient was then placed in a prone position. A grid was placed over the right iliac crest and a CT scan was performed to localize an adequate site for biopsy. The skin was marked with a magic marker and prepped utilizing maximum sterile barrier technique. The subcutaneous skin was anesthetized with 2% lidocaine, and an 11 gauge Jamshidi needle was placed into the right posterior iliac crest. A bone marrow specimen was aspirated and smear slides were made. A core specimen was also obtained and samples were submitted for chromosomal analysis and flow cytometry. The patient tolerated the procedure well without immediate complication. IMPRESSION: Technically successful CT guided bone marrow biopsy via the right iliac crest as described above. Samples sent to pathology for analysis.
