mainly in the small intestine:
• First filtered by liver
• Distributed to tissues and organs
• If there is damage to the S.I. villi, then
nutrient deficiencies result from poor
absorption

• Delivered to a tissue / organ
• Becomes part of a cell or is used in a
process (metabolism) such as building
