Electricity Tariff Preview Commercial Buildings Energy Efficiency Forum Important Notice Tariffs NOT yet approved for public comment As such, no comment from this presentation will impact on the tariff proposal Are in the approval process, with Budget Steering Committee approval received on 21 February 2012 Public Participation Process from end March/beginning April PLEASE take advantage of this process Questions of clarity will be entertained The MAGIC NUMBER (Average Increase) NERSA Guideline for 2012/13: 20.73% Small Power Users Small Power User 1: Service Charge: R20.54 per day (19.3% Increase) Energy Charge: 110.85c/kWh (19.0%) Service Charge increases slightly above average due to 1 less day in the year Small Power User 2: Energy Charge: 173.33c/kWh (19.9%) Slightly above average increase to ensure crossover with SPU1 is at exactly 1000kWh per month. Large Power Users Large Power User LV Service Charge: R34.21 per day (19.3% Increase) Energy Charge: 58.12c/kWh (19.0%) Demand Charge: R172.93 per kVA (19.0%) Large Power User MV Service Charge: R34.21 per day (19.3%) Energy Charge: 54.03c/kWh (19.0%) Demand Charge: R160.83 per kVA (19.0%) Time of Use Renamed Medium Voltage Time of Use Service Charge: R5 580.00 per day (19.2% Incr) Peak 273.87c/kWh (19.0%) Standard 72.42c/kWh (19.0%) Off Peak 39.42c/kWh (19.0%) Peak 77.75c/kWh (19.0%) Standard 48.24c/kWh (19.0%) Off Peak 34.21c/kWh (19.0%) R86.87 per kVA (19.0%) High Season Energy: Low Season Energy: Demand Charge: High Voltage Time of Use For 66kV and 132 kV connections New tariff for 2012/13 No existing customers will qualify for this tariff, solely for new connections, therefore no impact to existing sales base Based on MV Time of Use with a 3% discount on energy to cater for lower losses at these levels Voltage level determined by the existing transmission voltage level – NOT customer choice Other notes SPU with Off Peak combination for 2012/13 is limited to existing customers only. Off Peak Tariffs increases by 29.9% as first step in phasing out Impact of discontinuing tariff completely in one year would be too large Net Metered Domestic Tariff remains equal to the Small Power User Tariff, which is also the tariff for Net Metered Small Power consumers LPU and TOU customers with embedded generation remain on their existing tariffs, with the energy and demand components reflecting the load placed on the system (i.e. the energy component reflects net energy consumed, and the demand component the maximum demand utilised. Despite the above, the City is not quite ready to offer these products, but will be in the 2012/13 financial year. Thank you
