Datasheet STYRIS RoIP Radio Over IP SIGNALIS Radio over IP System No. 04/2015 www.signalis.com Datasheet STYRIS ® RoIP Overview The Radio over IP (RoIP) system controls integrated communications sub-systems where multiple voice and data sources share a common network. SIGNALIS RoIP system interfaces both VHF and MF/HF radios in analogue or IP mode. The RoIP system offers: Efficiency to handle voice communications within existing, or as part of a new application, Capability to use public or private Ethernet network as a backbone, Capability to be fully integrated with other network software on a LINUX platform or operate as a stand-alone subsystem with interfaces for data exchange with other system platforms, Possibility to include multi-channel radio network as well as telephone devices, A Touch Screen to control the system, configured for multiple levels of authority, channel authorizations, and review capabilities using a system of user log-ins, Recordings of all communications that can be time synchronized with associated systems, The RoIP eliminates the need for: Specialized matrix hardware for mixing and audio distribution, Channel specific microphones and headsets, Functional Architecture Radio transceivers are located at various local or remote sites. These transceivers are integrated into the network structure by interfacing audio to a router with Voice over IP capabilities. Routers convert received audio into a digital stream of data. Conversely, data is received by the router for transmission to the radio transmitter unit. The users of the radio information are “RoIP clients”. This is a software module which is associated with computer devices (audio card of the PC) and operator interaction hardware (loudspeakers, microphone, handset, headset, Push-to-Talk bars and buttons). For each radio, a “RoIP Radio Manager” manages: Access rights to the radio, Distribution of radio status to all clients, Conflicts between clients, The audio data streams are sent using the TCP/IP multicast protocol RTP (Real Time Protocol) and RTCP (Real Time Control Protocol) which has the benefits of: Guaranteeing efficient quality of voice transmission, Securing speed of transfer thus avoiding latency I the audio transmission, Enabling users of radios to dynamically connect to any point of the network and start receiving the audio of the radios selected, Depending on the deployment, Quality of Service (QoS) is also enhanced. The audio is received by all the clients which requiring this information (those subscribed to the reception of the corresponding radio) and by the recorder. 04/2015 www.signalis.com STYRIS ® RoIP Datasheet Functional Description Each operator controls the radio system directly from his workstation on a dedicated PC fitted with a touch screen. The functions offered to the operator include: Transmission of one or several radios, Assignment of “Selected Radios” (one speaker), Assignment of “Unselected Radios” (other speaker), Management and activation of a scan lists, Squelch setting (if available on the radio), Radio Control Instant Replay Broadcast Control Statistics DSC General Tabs Control IP Phone Patching Voting Channel setting, Output Power setting (if available on the radio), Volume setting for both Monitor and Work radios, Visible detection of RX signals, Selection of keyed radio(s), Individual Radio Control Activation of Instant Record & Replay (IRR), Continuously checking of all radio resources, Build-in test facility, The window presented above, enables the operator to control the functions presented in the previous paragraph but also offers the following possibilities: Direct access to one of the channel in a list of pre-sets, Capability to start/pause and stop the scanning on radios, A VHF radio broadcast that sends pre-recorded messages through pre-defined channels periodically at a fixed time, Technical Detailed Description Operational Tools The system includes Operational Tools to help the operator avoid miss-handling of the system. Examples are: If multiple radios are co-located on the same site, when two radios are set on the same channel, it is not possible to transmit. One of the two radios needs to be set to a different channel, When one operator is transmitting on a radio, another operator cannot take control of this same radio, Recording The audio streams of received and transmitted messages are directly picked-up on the network by the recorder. These messages are recorded along with other sources (analogue radios, telephone lines…) for synchronous replay on operator demand. Replay can be made by selecting individual messages from the operator workstations or remotely using a web interface, when interconnected with a STYRIS surveillance system. 04/2015 www.signalis.com STYRIS ® RoIP Datasheet Instant Record & Replay (IRR) At the bottom of the RoIP screen, a special bar is used for managing the instant replay of messages heard by the operator on his “Selected” Speaker. This bar shows a chronological graph of all messages within the last 30 minutes (tuneable). The operator can directly select the message and start a replay. This replay is made on a dedicated speaker. Messages can be tagged for permanent storing and if desired, exported in WAV format. This function is very effective in facilitating the understanding of noisy communications or when several calls are received simultaneously and need to be separated by the operator without requesting repeats. The information from the IRR function is recorded on the local hard disc of the RoIP client computer, not on the recording server. In case of failure of the recording server, IRR would still operate. Interfaces The SIGNALIS RoIP system can interface with most currently manufactured radio hardware which has been designed for external data control. Many other radio systems can be accommodated with the appropriate interfaces. Options DSC Option: DSC management tool is compliant with ITU-R M.493. It allows displaying, acknowledging, creating, relaying, archiving & replaying DSC messages within the operator interface. ToIP Option: A full Telephone over IP module is available providing the main following features: Handle external communication (when connected to a PSTN), Put on hold a call, Transfer a call, Patch a phone to a radio, Manage a contact list, Synchronous archive / replay, Technical Hardware Specifications The operator has access to the following audio terminals: A 17” touch screen (1280 x 1024 pixels), 4 loudspeakers audio bar: 1 monitoring (Unselected) speaker, 1 working (Selected) speaker 1 Instant Replay speaker, 1 Replay speaker for playing external device, 1 Push To Talk mechanism (foot switch), 1 microphone (most often a goose neck), 1 wireless headset with a push to talk button at the belt, SIGNALIS SAS 9 rue Louis Rameau – B.P. 70101 95873 Bezons Cedex FRANCE No. 09/[email protected] SIGNALIS GmbH Hanna-Kunath-Strasse 3 28199 Bremen GERMANY SIGNALIS GmbH Landshuter Strasse 26 85716 Unterschleissheim GERMANY www.signalis.com La Ciotat Test Facilities ZI Athelia 2, 220 impasse du Serpolet 13704 La Ciotat Cedex FRANCE Phone: +33 1 39 96 www.signalis.com 44 44
