How does a student enroll? There is no pre-enrollment. Interested students must take and pass the pre-admission
DET exam before being admitted into the course. Cost for the exam is $20 cash or money order.
Students must present photo id and bring two #2 pencils for exam. Free tutoring to prepare for the exam is available at New Hope .
The following are required of all students before the class starts: High School Diploma or GED (10th grade
proficiency in Math and English), Two work-related references, A pre-admission exam and interview, A physical examination indicating the student is in good health and has current immunizations.
How much does the course cost? Tuition & Fees $9,500 (exam fee and non refundable deposit included) Books
& Supplies (estimated) + $1,150 (Books, ATI fee, uniforms & miscellaneous supplies) Financial aid is
available
based on income.
What does an LPN do? (LPNs) work with doctors and registered nurses to perform important health care
tasks, such as measuring vital signs and observing patients. Doctors and registered nurses will supervise your work,
which may include: measuring vital signs, collecting fluid samples, administering intravenous medications, dressing
wounds, maintaining patient records, observing patients' reactions to medications, assisting patients with personal hygiene, and teaching families to care for sick or injured relatives.
What is taught in this class? Nursing skills required of a Licensed Practical Nurse. This program provides the
knowledge and skills necessary for entry in the nursing profession. Successful completion of this program will allow
students to take the State Licensing Exam for Practical Nursing. Nursing theory and skills are taught in practical nursing classrooms and are reinforced with laboratory practice and clinical experience in health care agencies.

Where would I work? LPN’s provide basic care and assistance for sick, injured, disabled and other patients in a variety
of settings like hospitals and long-term care facilities, outpatient care facilities, clinics, nursing homes and government
agencies.
Job Outlook? Employment of licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses is projected to grow 16 percent
from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. As the baby-boom population ages, the overall
need for healthcare services is expected to increase. LPNs and LVNs will be needed in residential care facilities and in
home health environments to care for older patients. Median Pay: $43,170 per year.
