Centriq Clinic
Designed with provider input, powered by a single EHR
SOLUTIONS DESIGNED TO FIT
Our clients do more than save lives.
They’re helping their communities
to thrive. So instead of offering
hand-me-down information systems
that are ten sizes too big, we provide
solutions designed specifically for
(and with input from) rural and
critical access hospitals.
Solutions that enhance patient
safety and increase efficiencies while
improving employee satisfaction
and user adoption. Healthland
solutions let rural hospitals focus
on what they do best: providing
quality healthcare to neighbors,
family, and friends—their patients.
Solution snapshot
What do rural hospital-based clinics truly need in a patient care management
solution? This was the question — and the challenge — that confronted
Healthland when designing Centriq Clinic. We answered the question, and rose
to the challenge, by seeking input from active rural providers. The results speak
for themselves. With Centriq Clinic deployed alongside Centriq Hospital, our
inpatient electronic health record solution for rural hospitals, you get:
• A comprehensive solution for managing patient-related activities across
the continuum of care
• A single patient database shared between the hospital and clinic,
enabling you to access the most current clinical, scheduling, and billing
information, regardless of where the patient receives care, and without
the need for complex interfaces
• A consistently familiar user interface across your hospital and clinic
systems, helping to foster broad-scale provider adoption while
substantially reducing the need for user training
• Provider-centric workflows and tools that conform to the preferences of
your physicians and other clinicians, enhancing their ability to deliver
patient care with maximum efficiency and efficacy
Putting it into perspective
FA number of EHR vendors offer ambulatory solutions. But do these ambulatory
EHR solutions use the same set of patient information as their inpatient EHRs?
Did these vendors design their ambulatory EHR solutions with the active
involvement of rural providers? Most important of all, will their solutions earn
the acceptance of providers and demonstrate a solid long-term return on
investment?
Selecting the right solution for your clinic is an important decision. At
Healthland, we looked to rural providers for vital guidance in the development
of Centriq Clinic. We also carefully considered how it would complement and
extend your overall investment in Centriq. Ultimately, Centriq Clinic hit the mark
in all the dimensions that are crucial for you.
Putting it to work
Get to know the industry’s most provider-centric EHR solution for rural hospitalbased clinics. Key components and capabilities of Centriq Clinic include:
Provider Work Center
Physicians and other providers expect more than just an easy-to-use EHR solution. They need a full-featured work center,
one that helps them efficiently manage their day, connects them with up-to-the-minute patient information and puts
them in complete control of how they document the care they provide. Our Provider Work Center, optimized for the
clinic, gives providers a single, convenient point of access to a broad range of everyday tasks and information, including
personal schedules, outstanding patient tasks, laboratory results, order entry, patient documentation, preventive care
recommendations, and clinical patient summaries.
Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE)
CPOE for the clinic gives you much more than just order entry and communications. You get tools that can actually
strengthen the quality of patient care: medication interaction alerts, duplicate order checking, customizable order sets,
order templates with pre-populated screens, and much more. You can augment your CPOE through integration with
optional evidence-based order sets, powered by Wolters Kluwer.
Clinical Documentation
Providers are able to generate patient documentation via the method that works best for them, whether it’s direct
computer entry of their notes, traditional dictation or a compatible third-party voice recognition solution. They may also
choose to use our Smart Templates feature, which allows them to populate the chart note with selected patient data and
create templates for future use.
Clinician Work Center
Nurses in most rural clinics are increasingly asked to do more, which is why they’ll really appreciate our Clinician Work
Center, optimized for use in the clinic. Through our easy-to-navigate portal, they can quickly see all their patients and
tasks in a single view. To promote efficient shift planning, information is organized in a way that makes sense to each
nurse, whether it’s by individual patients or hour by hour. Nurses can also receive alerts for critical lab results and patient
care tasks needing their immediate attention.
Medication Management
Rural clinics are challenged as never before to prescribe medications without compromising patient safety. Electronic
medication administration record (eMAR) functionality can streamline this important responsbility, while minimizing
the risks of adverse drug events. Because Centriq Clinic and Centriq Hospital are built on the same database, each
patient medication is visible to all clinicians, regardless of when or where the drug was dispensed and documented.
Our separately available bar code medication administration (BCMA) solution can help you reinforce medication
administration accuracy and patient safety.
Coding Center
Because Healthland is concerned about the financial health of your facility, Centriq Clinic offers assistance with your
evaluation and management (E&M) coding. At the Coding Center, you can receive a recommended E&M code based on
the patient’s documentation. In addition, our Coding Advisor tool suggests a code based on answers you provide about
the patient encounter. These codes are then automatically passed to billing.
Scheduling and Billing
Wouldn’t it be great if you could simplify and consolidate patient scheduling and billing, regardless of whether it occurs
in the clinic or hospital? With Centriq Clinic, you can — and you can also skip the messy synchronization required with
interfaced clinic/hospital solutions. You’ll always access the most current and accurate information for each patient,
streamline essential activities, and free up time and resources for patient satisfaction initiatives.
Adding capabilities and value
How can you make Centriq Clinic even more valuable to your facility and responsive to your needs? By integrating it with
the following optional applications:
Health Maintenance
Improving community health has become a national and local priority — and this objective depends on the ability of providers
to deliver proactive and preventive care. When integrated with Centriq Clinic, the Centriq Health Maintenance solution delivers
key capabilities that give you and your patients a big advantage:
• Rules setup — one convenient location for establishing the conditions that will trigger a recommendation for
immunizations, cancer screenings, and other preventive services
• Patient communications — helps staff manage patient reminders, according to each patient’s individual communication
preferences, about upcoming recommended preventive care
• Assured care delivery — integrates preventive care recommendations directly into the clinical workflow, providing full
visibility to clinicians during the patient visit, and links the recommendations to orders for consistently correct entry and
billing.
Besides contributing to healthier patients and a healthier community, Centriq Health Maintenance can expand your service
and revenue opportunities, resulting in a stronger bottom line.
ePrescribing
Powered by Rcopia from DrFirst, Centriq ePrescribing brings greater productivity and visibility to the process of prescribing
patient medications. Depending on where it fits into their workflows, providers can access ePrescribing from multiple points in
Centriq Clinic, without the need for additional user authentication.
Patient Education
It’s simple: The better informed your patients are, the better decisions they’ll make regarding their health. Centriq Clinic
integrates with patient education titles powered by ExitCare. For example, you can provide easy-to-understand information
about medications and how to take them safely. Do patients want to know more about their diagnosis and treatment? With
a few clicks, you can produce easy-to-understand detail about a large array of health conditions. You can even provide each
patient with his or her clinical information by sending it directly to the patient’s personal health record or by providing a
continuity of care document (CCD), enabling better health-related decision making long after the care is provided.
Meaningful Use

Medical Necessity Checking
Lack of medical necessity is one of the leading causes of claims delays or rejection by payers. Centriq Medical Necessity
Checking can help you prevent medical necessity issues by considering patient status, diagnosis, and Medicare coverage
policies — before an order is placed.
