• Capra Colostrum™ contains natural
immunoglobulins, growth factors, and peptides.
• The first milk produced, colostrum is low in fat and
high in protein and antibodies.
• Nature’s way of transferring immune components from
mother to child.
• Collected within the first four milkings post-partum.
• Contains high amounts of immunoglobulins IgG, IgA,
and IgM, lactoferrin, cytokines, and over 20 antibodies
for healthy immune support.
What is Colostrum?
Colostrum is the thick fluid which is produced as a precursor
to mother’s milk. It is found in humans, goats, and other
mammals where it is produced by the mother for two days
following birth. Colostrum can be described as a brilliantly
designed transfer system which effectively “jump starts” a
newborn’s undeveloped immune system.
Capra Colostrum is unique because it’s from goat milk. This
means it is from a source that is closer to human milk than the
mass produced bovine (cow) colostrum. Colostrum supplies
the body with immune and growth factors and is easily
tolerated by most.

“Colostrum is the first milk produced after birth and is particularly
rich in immunoglobulins, antimicrobial peptides (e.g., lactoferrin and
lactoperoxidase), and other bio-active molecules, including growth factors.”

What biological role does colostrum play?
Colostrum has dozens of health related components, the
primary being immune and growth related. Colostrum is
made up of various macro and micro constituents such as
cytokines, immunoglobulins, lactoferrin, growth factors and
hormones, etc. These components have various biological
roles. For example:
Cytokines: Cytokines are part of our systemic immune
system. These hormones keep communication between
immune cells active. “No communication = No immunity”
Immunoglobulins (IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG, IgM)
Immunoglobulins are also known as antibodies. These small
proteins are used by the immune system to seek out and
destroy foreign antigens (invaders).
Lactoferrin: Assists with iron absorption and has shown
anti-microbial characteristics. It is also part of our immune
system.
Growth Factors: (IGF-I, IGF-II, EGF)
As the name implies, growth factors assist with maintenance
and growth of certain body tissues.
Growth Hormone: Works individually as well as together
with growth factors to possibly aid in growth and function
of gastro-intestinal tissues.
 Although many individuals are
allergic to or intolerant of milk and
products derived from it, colostrum
is NOT milk, its composition is much
different and tolerated by the most
sensitive individuals...after all, it’s
nature’s first food.
Colostrum from Mt. Capra comes from goats that are never
fed synthetic growth-hormones, antibiotics or feed that
contains pesticides or herbicides—the true essence of natural.
Furthermore, it is processed using Refractance Window™
drying equipment—proprietary heat transfer technology that
gently and efficiently removes moisture from this delicate
product while preserving excellent nutrient levels.
A Natural Synergy with Probiotics
Volumes of studies have been done on both probiotics
and colostrum but emerging research from the Journal of
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology has found a natural
synergy or coalition between these two substances. Immune
enhancers such as lymphocyte (white blood cells) growth
and macrophage phagocytosis (destruction of dangerous
bacteria) were shown to increase by up to twice their normal
capacity when probiotics and colostrum were paired together.
Probiotic strains as well as immunoglobulins (immune
enhancers) must be viable and active to achieve the highest
health benefit when ingested. These recent studies show that
overall viability of certain probiotic strains as well as IgG
immunoglobulins were strengthened to a greater degree when
utilized as a pair than when utilized independently. Bottom
line: Probiotics and colostrum should be taken together to
have a health effect, greater than the sum of the parts.
How should Capra Colostrum be taken?
Researchers suggest starting with what is called a “loading dose”
(larger doses initially, then reduced after results are obtained)
Loading dose: Take 2-4 capsules (1450-2900 mg.) twice
daily, on an empty stomach (first thing in the morning and at
bedtime). Occasionally it may interfere with sleep, if it does,
take second dose about two hours after lunch.
Maintenance: Take 2 capsules twice daily, on empty stomach.
Athletes: To improve performance and endurance, take 3045 minutes before workout. Best results have been reported
at about 2900-5700 mg per day.
Competitive Athlete Caution
The insulin-like growth factors, IGF-I, found in colostrum,
is similar to the body building substances in hGH, which is
illegal for athletic use. The International Olympic Committee
is looking into tests that will detect hGH. One proposed test
measures levels of IGF-I in the blood that could cause “clean”
athletes who use colostrum to test positive. So, before you
use colostrum, thoroughly check into the testing procedures
used for the competition.
Mt Capra loves their kids!
Mt. Capra is aware that baby goats (kids) must utilize the
postpartum colostrum from their mother to ‘jump start’ their
own newly formed immune system. We have taken steps
to allow the kids to have total access to their full need of
colostrum. Mt Capra only harvests the “surplus” colostrum.
Our Guarantee to you.
The Mt. Capra farm is located in the
Pacific Northwest. Our grass-fed, freerange goats graze on pesticide-free
and chemical-free pasture 365 days
a year. No hormones, antibiotics, or
pesticides are used. Ever.
