Asadollah Malek Was a skillfull composer and violin player who was born in 1320 A.H.S In
Tehran he came from an artist family . his elder brother hossein malek was a santur player
and his uncles were musicians and musicologists and instrumental music players .
Their house was a place of companionship and friendliness where all well-known musicians
associated with one another . asadollah malek began to play violin at the age of childhood .
he was proud of the fact that he had been abolhassan sabah s student who was one of the
best and most outstanding musician of all . asadollah malek was impressed by him very
much , then he was introduced to abolhassan sabah by his brother .
After a While He Went To Musical school and was taught to play violin by abolhassan sabah
, and he learned other musical lessons from late Rohollah Khaleghi and ali mohammad
khadem misagh .
Asadollah Malek Continued His studies at fair arts faculty after granduation from musical
school . but he quit university after a while , because his morale was not compatible with
that atmosphere . and entrusted himself continuously to the love .
Asadollah malek joined national music association orchestra at the age of adolescence when
late rohollah khaleghi : was the conductor afterwards he joined Iran radio when he was
seventeen and played the violin at different orchestra , he had been active as a solist and
composer too . he also performed music and memorable works with famous solists and
singers such as : delkash , mahasti , homeira , Mahmood khonsari , golpayegani , iraj ,
kooros sarhang zadeh and so on . he also did unique works in the field of composing music
and improvisation including the performance of leili crying piece in tune , Re , Mi , Do , La ,
and Isfahan Chahar Mezrab in tune Do La La And Mi .
He also had a valuable cooperation with golha and solist programme and managed the
series of programe " melody of national music " with doctor manoochehr jahan begloo that
in masters view point after golha was the best Iranian traditional music programe . he
continued his cooperation as a solist , composer and hamnavazan orchestra conductor with
the Islamic republic of iran broadcasting organization after revolution from 1374 to 1380 .
during this time he performed many new and lasting works such as : solo performance and
composing music with artist cooperation including " fazlollah tavakol " , " farhang sharif " , "
mansoor nariman and singers like " golpayegani " , " iraj " , and " bahram hasiri " .
In addition to performance activities , asadollah malek taught and trained a lot of students
in this field at malek maktab institute and introduced them to the musical world .
Malek was one of only a few artists who was confirmed by most musical masters . he had
skill and a unique style in playing violin and also had abundant talent and good taste and
artistic sense in the field of composing music which all of them originated from authentic
Iranian music . such as : " o heaven ! " , " Im sad an lonely " , " unique tree " , " nightingale " ,
" tavern " , and many other songs . some parts of his musicians job characteristics are as
below .
1 ) the use of the light , short and rapid bow of violin at the performance of the vocal
sentences
2) an occurate performance of the musical scores interval by means of left hands fingers
along with a pleasant and desirable sonorite ( making sound )
3) the presentation of sentences which are full of ornament and movement simultaneous
with simple and not complete sentences which this conflict gives a particular attraction his
playing music .
4) the performance of soft accurate and velvet pieces at the performance of trilling
5) the use of light , ascending and descending glisandoes among continuous and
uncontinuous intervals to create atmospheres of full feeling
6) the performance of regular vibrations more over ultimate elongated musical score of
vocal sentence and chahar – mezrabs
7) the use of optimum from positions and left hand fingers at the performance of state and
delicacy of vocal musical sentences and chahar – mezrabs particularly the usage of fourth
finger instead of supposed fifth finger which is used less in other solists .
The series of above mentioned characteristics endow particular power , delicacy ,
transporensy and pleasant which place his works in the best performance of violin in Iran
musical history . deceased asadollah malek passed away in bahman 1380 . he dedicated
himself to serving iran music about fifty years may his soul rest in peace .
