Dr. Edgar DeJean, is a 1940 graduate of Salem High School who
also served on the SCS school board for many years. He received
his D.D.S. degree from Indiana University in 1944, then served in
the army Dental Corps until 1947, attaining the rank of Captain.
He practiced general dentistry in Salem until 1957 when
residencies at the University of Louisville led to a practice in oral
surgery in 1962. As a didactic part of his residencies, he obtained
a M.S.D. degree from IU in 1967. He taught part-time at the
University of Louisville School of Dentistry including time as
Director of Continuing Education. In 1972 he was certified a
diplomat in the American Board of Oral Surgery. He was an Honor
Dentist of the Indiana Dental Association in 1984. Since his 1994
retirement, he writes, paints and impersonates Mark Twain.

A specialist and leader in kidney transplantation, Brian Haag
graduated from Salem High School in 1970 and Hanover
College where he majored in biology in 1974. He received his
M.D. degree in 1978 from the Indiana University School of
Medicine and completed his internship and residency at
Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He spent two years in a
University of Chicago fellowship with an emphasis on organ
transplantation. Methodist Hospital honored him in 2006 on his
1000th kidney transplant. He is the author of 32 articles in
medical journals and chapters in two books. He has given
presentations in several states as well as in Belgium and
Norway. He has received numerous awards for teaching and
research including the Carl H. McCaskey Award, the J.K.
Berman Resident Award, and the William S. Sobat Distinguished
Teacher Award.
Immediately after her graduation from Salem High School in 1959,
Joan Barrett began her career with Salem Community Schools as
Administrative Assistant to the Principal. She began at Salem Middle
School where she worked eight years under Principal Ebert Whipple.
After taking time off with her new son, she returned to work this time at
Salem High School where she will complete her 41st year this spring.
During these 49 years on the job, she has worked under five principals
and 12 superintendents and transitioned from typewriters and filing
cabinets to computers and digital student administration programs.

The Rev. Dr. R. Scott Colglazier is Senior Minister of First
Congregational Church of Los Angeles, the oldest Protestant church in
L.A. Throughout his career he has served some of the great churches
in America, and is the author of several books. His work as a religious
leader has been featured on The Today Show, The CBS Early Show,
as well as in The New York Times.
Throughout his career, Dr. Colglazier has been active in the
community and an advocate for human rights. He has served on a
variety of nonprofit boards, and has been an influential leader in interfaith dialogue and civil rights. Dr. Colglazier is a graduate of David
Lipscomb College, and earned his Masters and Doctorate of Ministry
degrees at Christian Theological Seminary.

Robert Bennett composes music for film and tv. He graduated from
Berklee College of Music, then studied in Holland and at Indiana
University. He has studied composition in Cologne Germany and
apprenticed with composer Hans Zimmer, writing music for films such as
Black Hawk Down. Recent projects include ABC's TV series The Goode
Family and the trailer to Alice in Wonderland. He has recorded and
conducted his music in Seattle, Australia, Sweden, Prague, Bratislava
and at Abbey Road in London. He is the recipient of national and
international composition awards from Midwest Composers Symposium,
ASCAP/Morton Gould Young Composer Awards, ISCM Cultural
Foundation of Warsaw, Deutscher Akademischer Austauschungdienst
Bureau, Berklee College of Music, Polish National Radio Orchestra,
ASCAP PLU$ Awards, and Society of Composers, Inc.
