Silvia’s first notions of music were instilled by her father, with whom she
learned old songs on the guitar, and by her maternal grandfather, who
was a violinist.
She decides to learn the drums, fusing the rhythms she felt around her
and expressing that through doumbek, djembe, darbuka, Peruvian cajon
and jars among others rhythm instruments. Inspired by ethnic sounds,
she developed a unique style as both a percussionist and singer.
In 2000, she enrolled in singing and percussion at the PROART Center,
Academy of Classical and Spanish Dance located in the city of Santiago de
Querétaro.
Under the supervision of her teacher Josué Tacoronte Otero, Silvia learned the basics of flamenco and participated in
Proart’s Spanish Ballet Company, performing in several theaters across Mexico as well as in Cuba at the Gran Teatro
Garcia Lorca for the International Meeting of Academies.
She shared the stage with several other renowned flamenco artist at the 2007 Festival “Ibérica Contemporánea”,
performing alongside “Ibérica de Danza” by Manuel Segovia, Cristóbal Reyes, María Juncal, Belén Maya, María Pagés,
Joaquín Grilo and the Spanish Ballet of Cuba.
In January 2008 she and Paolo embarked on the project "La boquita world music" mixing jazz standards, bossa nova, and
Mexican, Italian and Flamenco sounds.
In June 2009 she participates at the Second Festival "Ibérica Contemporánea", where she has the opportunity to play with
guitarist Pedro Sierra, Josué Tacoronte Otero, Jose Luis Rodriguez and Antonio Rey and participates as a percussionist in
Maria Juncal’s "Third Call" under the musical direction of Juan Parrilla. She also shared the stage with several flamenco
artist such as: Joaquin Ruiz, El Farru, Irene Rodriguez and Eduardo Veitia of the Spanish Ballet of Cuba, pianist
Alejandro Romero, Junco, Edu Lozano, Juan Paredes and Raquel Ruiz.
In December 2009, guitarist Paco Rentería invited her to participate in recording his album "Talisman."
In February 2011, Silvia was invited by dancer and choreographer Maestra Adriana Quinto to perform as a percussionist
and voice in a three-month production at Teatro Vallarta. The show was poetry and painting turned into dance - inspired
by Mexican cultural icon, Frida Khalo, who in her paintings reflected a life full of pain, love, passion and loss.
In October 2012 Maestro Josué Tacoronte invited Silvia to participate as percussionist the “IV Festival Leo Brouwer of
Chamber Music”. At the Nacional Theater of Havana, Cuba, she presented the project “Brouwer Flamenco”, which later
won the “Cuba Disco 2013” award.
In July 2013 she began collaboration with international famed accordionist and composer, Maestro Marco Lo Russo, with
whom she performed a series of concerts, and will soon release a new album.
In August 2013, Silvia, along with Josué Tacoronte and Paolo Uccelli, again presented a "Brouwer Flamenco" concert,
(directed and arranged by Tacoronte) at the XXXVIII Guitar Festival in Paracho, Michoacán.
