The Head Hunter revolves around an old man from a forgotten tribe of India, dreaded for
its practice of head hunting. When the government decides to build a road through the
Old Man’s forest, he becomes a nuisance for administration. A city-bred young official,
who belongs to the same tribe, tricks him into spending a few days in the city. When he
comes back everything has changed. The film questions the creation of homogenous
culture of existence and morality.
Director’s Biography
Nilanjan Datta is a National Award-winning director. He has made several
documentary films and shorts. He is currently the Associate Professor of
Film Editing at the Film and Television of India, Pune.

The film is a partly fictionalized presentation of the great tragedy that occurred in
Ksaragod district of kerla in India, consequent upon the aerial spraying of Endosulfan a
highly toxic pesticide on cashew plantation. The spraying affected the people as well as
environment continuously for two and a half decades. The film depicts the after effects
of pesticide spraying through the eyes of photographer, who finally realizes that the
apathy towards the plight of the victims will not end.

Dr. Ambarish Darak is one of the leading and successful Refractive
Surgeons from India. During his college days, Dr. Darak was very active in

had also produced a theatrical play titled “Wo Jo Shayaar Hai”as a tribute
to the legendary GULZAAR which gained much critical acclaim. He did
with his debut feature film ÄNURAAG”, as a director, screenplay and
dialogue writer.

'Ganvesh' revolves around a couple working at the brick manufacturing unit and
somehow manage to run their house and send their little child to school. However, their
real test begins when the child is selected for the 15th August cultural programme in the
school and is asked to be present in school uniform. Not able to afford a school uniform for
their child, the couple works harder to buy the uniform so that they can meet the
requirement of school authorities.

National Film Archive of India, NFAI is the Premier Organization under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting,
Government of India with a mandate to Preserve and Promote the rich filmic heritage of the Country. Established in
February, 1964, NFAI is one of the largest film archives in the world. It is the principal custodian of one of the most
prolific and diverse film patrimonies in the world. NFAI's charter includes the promotion of film scholarship and
research on cinema, furthering the global outreach of Indian cinema and showcasing the wealth of India's cinematic
legacy to audiences across the country and the globe.
It is an ongoing job at the Archive to trace and acquire national and international films to enrich its existing collection.
The Research and Documentation Centre has a large collection of ancillary items on Indian Cinema like photographs /
stills, song-booklets, wallposters, pamphlets and other publicity material and innumerable press-clippings. The wellstocked library of nearly 30,000 books on Cinema is a boon to serious students of Cinema in India and abroad. Over
40,000 film scripts both Indian and foreign are also preserved in the Archive.
As a part of its activities of disseminating film culture, NFAI supplies films to film societies, educational institutions and
cultural organizations in the country. It is a major source of films for international film festivals in India and abroad.
NFAI also organizes Exhibition of Wallposters on various themes at different venues thus bringing Indian Cinema to the
doorsteps of one and all.
NFAI has been conducting its Annual Film Appreciation Course of four weeks duration at Pune in collaboration with FTII
for the last four decades. Participants from different professions from all over India are exposed to the best of Indian
and World Cinema. The Archive also conducts short-term courses on similar lines in collaboration with educational
institutions and cultural organizations in other parts of the country as well.
NFAI is India's leading cultural heritage management institution. NFAI has been a member of the International
Federation of Film Archives since May 1969, which enables it to get expert advice and material on preservation
techniques, documentation etc. The Archive has its own state-of-the-art film vaults designed to International film
preservation standards.

Abraham's last and most complex film unfolds in the form of an open letter from a son,
Purushan, to his mother, interweaving fact and fiction with fragments of memory.
Purushan sets out for Delhi after meeting his friend Paru, who is researching a thesis on
Durga, the mother goddess. Along the way he finds a hanged man who seems hauntingly
familiar. Reconstructing the identity of the corpse takes Purushan, and a group of young
men who all have a stake in the youth's history, from the northern Kerala to South Cochin,
ending with a re-evaluation of a generation's radical past. Abraham manages to endow
both the journey and the central character with broader historical resonances in a manner
reminiscent of the director's master, Ritwik Ghatak. In Amma Ariyan the fictional is
embedded in a documentary style deploying high contrast black and white photography
and florid camera movements and self-conscious compositions.
Director’s Biography
Malayalam director who studied economics at a college near Kottayam.
His grandfather educated him and gave him his first camera. He worked
as an insurance salesman in Bellary. Then he went to FTII (Film and
Television Institute of India) and studied under Bengali director Ritwik
Kumar Ghatak. He started with a student film. His first film was
Vidyarthikale Ithile Ithile (1971) made in Tamil. He also wrote his own
films.

Adelightfully subdued and amusing film about a middle aged stiff-necked bureaucrat,
whose jaunt down a countryside brings about a sea change in him for the better.Bhuvan

consistently wayward style, the shades of which return again and again in Sen's later

Mrinal Sen is one of his nation's most politically active film-makers. In
1956 Sen made his debut with Raat Bhore (1956). Although it was openly
political, he achieved national status as the director of a comedy, Bhuvan
Shome (1969). Influenced by Italian neo-realism, Sen used location
shooting and non-professional casts in his early films. By the 1970s he
was making wider use of symbolism and allegory. Sen's films have won
numerous international awards. The Case Is Closed (1982), a scathing
look at the hypocritical reaction of a bourgeois Calcutta family to the
death of a servant boy, took home the Jury Prize from the 1983 Cannes
Film Festival.
