KAREN MASON AND MARK JACOBY LEAD THE CAST OF
GOODSPEED MUSICALS’ SNAPSHOTS: A MUSICAL SCRAPBOOK
Engaging New Musical Spotlighting Over 20 Songs From The Creator Of Wicked,
Pippin, And Godspell Begins October 24 At The Norma Terris Theatre
EAST HADDAM, CONN., August 28, 2013: Goodspeed Musicals has put together an incredible cast for
Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook a heartwarming, multi-decade musical about the tribulations and triumphs of
love featuring Stephen Schwartz’s beloved songs from his most popular Broadway musicals including Pippin,
Wicked and Godspell. This captivating new work conceived by Michael Scheman and book writer David Stern will
run from October 24 to November 17 at The Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn. — Goodspeed’s home for
developing fresh, innovative, and original new musicals. Snapshots is sponsored by Essex Savings Bank.
This romantic comedy blends some of the best-loved music from composer Stephen Schwartz’s
Broadway shows (Wicked, Pippin, Godspell, The Baker’s Wife) with some of his lesser-known gems. You’ll
meet Sue and Dan, a couple who, after 20 years of marriage, have drifted apart. Together they discover a
box of photographs which leads them to relive the memories of their past selves captured in the snapshots.
Featuring fresh lyrics and orchestrations, our couple discovers the humorous twists of how love united them
and why life has pushed them apart. Every couple will see themselves in Snapshots!
The cast will feature Karen Mason as Sue. Ms. Mason has appeared in Broadway’s Wonderland,
Hairspray, Mamma Mia!, Sunset Boulevard, Jerome Robbins’ Broadway, Play Me a Country Song as well as
Goodspeed’s Heartbeats at The Norma Terris Theatre. Opposite her as Dan will be Tony-nominated Mark
Jacoby whose credits include Broadway’s Elf, Sweeney Todd, Man of La Mancha, Ragtime, Showboat, Grand
Hotel, The Phantom of the Opera and Sweet Charity. Mr. Jacoby performed at the Goodspeed Opera House in
On The Twentieth Century.

Stern. Stephen Schwartz’s many accolades include six Tony nominations (Wicked, Godspell, Rags and
Working.), three Oscars (Disney’s Pocahontas and Dreamworks’ The Prince of Egypt.) and four Grammys
(Godspell, Pocahontas, and Wicked). He is also no stranger to Goodspeed, in 2002 he fine-tuned his musical
The Baker’s Wife at the Norma Terris Theatre and in 2006 he received The Goodspeed Award for Outstanding
Contribution to Musical Theatre. David Stern has written numerous movies including: Geppetto (four Emmy

and the upcoming Turkeys (starring Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson). He also wrote the musical My Son
Pinocchio with longtime collaborator Stephen Schwartz. Additional music and lyrics were written by David

His work is very familiar to Goodspeed audiences having directed the current hit Hello, Dolly! at the Goodspeed
Opera House and The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown at the Norma Terris in 2011.
The set and costumes will be designed by two-time Tony nominee David Farley. Mr. Farley’s Broadway credits

PAGE 3– GOODSPEED MUSICALS ANNOUNCES CAST OF SNAPSHOTS
For nearly 30 years, The Norma Terris Theatre has been Goodspeed’s home for developing fresh,
innovative, and original new musicals. These new works have been developed in Chester, Conn. before
they’ve moved on to Broadway, off-Broadway, national tours, and other regional theatres. Because this is a
developmental theatre, the show can change on a day-to-day basis. New scenes are added, songs are moved,
costumes are changed, dialogue is tweaked - all based on audience response and feedback. Be a part of the
process and be among the first to enjoy the Broadway hits of tomorrow.
Dedicated to the preservation and advancement of musical theatre, Goodspeed Musicals produces three
musicals each season at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn., and additional works at The
Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn., which was opened in 1984 for the development of new musicals.
The first regional theatre to receive two Tony Awards (for outstanding achievement), Goodspeed celebrates
another milestone, its 50th Anniversary, in 2013. In addition to the two theatres and production facilities,
Goodspeed maintains The Scherer Library of Musical Theatre and The Max Showalter Center for Education in
Musical Theatre. Goodspeed gratefully acknowledges the Marquee Sponsors for this production, Dr. Anne L.
Rothstein and Ms. Jane Hellman, as well as the ongoing support of Sennheiser, the Official Audio Sponsor
and the Department of Economic and Community Development with support from the Connecticut Office of
the Arts.
