Una gallina llamada Iris
A new musical play created for our 7th Summer Stage Tour
of metropolitan NY, NJ, and CT. Part of the JPMorgan Chase
Summer Arts Series.
3-Night Inaugural Gala
The New Pregones Theater opened its doors in November
with a special celebration dedicated to the to the pioneering
artists, institutions, and supporters of Latino theater in New York.
Honorees included Miriam Colón of the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater,
Miguel Algarín of the Nuyorican Poets Café, Max Ferrá of INTAR, and
Gilberto Zaldívar and René Buch of Repertorio Español.
The Red Rose/La Rosa Roja
Based on the life and works of Puerto Rican pioneer Jesús Colón.
Featuring international recording star Danny Rivera. Winner of the
ACE Award for Best Direction and HOLA Awards for Outstanding Musical,
Direction, Technical Production, and Special Recognitions for Danny Rivera
and Desmar Guevara. Cast recording released in March.
Osun Dele
The New Pregones Theater features a permanent glass
mosaic mural by Bronx-native artist Manny Vega depicting the
mythical goddess of the rivers and patron saint of the arts.
Luz y Color
From March 15 through April 30, acclaimed Puerto Rican painter
Pablo Marcano García exhibited fifteen oversize, brightly colored
oil landscapes, portraits, and mythical scenes at our new theater.
It was our first lobby gallery installation!
Betsy
A new musical play created and performed with
the Appalachian artists of Roadside Theater in Kentucky.
Featuring Nashville jazz legend Beegie Adair.
Blanco
A play by Pablo García Gámez co-produced with Teatro IATI. A selection of
our Asunción Playrights Project. Winner of HOLA Awards for Outstanding Drama,
Direction, Playwrighting, Ensemble Cast, and Technical Production.
El bolero fue mi ruina
Dazzling restaging of acclaimed play based on a story
by Puerto Rican gay literary icon Manuel Ramos Otero.
Featuring brand new sets and costumes.
