Creating The First Curriculum In 2008, the McCombs Center for Customer
Insight & Marketing Solutions (CCIMS) created
the Marketing Fellows program, the first of its
kind dedicated to marketing. The concept was
simple: build marketing excellence at McCombs
by selecting and cultivating motivated, exceptional
marketing talent. The outcome for your firm:
exclusive access to future marketing leaders.
Fellows who are selected to participate register for
a weekly course during their 2nd and 3rd
semesters of the MBA program. Each session
focuses on one of three elements that serves to
develop well-rounded future marketers:
1. Leadership Training (~40%)
• Management skills - developing and supporting
success in others
• Communication and presentation skills
• Career management/how to achieve
one’s goals
Identify, Educate & Engage After selecting candidates through a rigorous,
multiple-round application process, the program
engages these candidates through a year-long
intensive with three main emphases:
• Educate the Fellows about the biggest issues and
trends facing marketing organizations today.
• Expose the Fellows to senior executives who
have significant impact within their industries.
• Engage the Fellows in unique, professor-guided
consulting projects with real-world outcomes.
2. Strategic Thinking (~40%)
• Utilizing consumer insights to identify new
opportunities within the marketplace
• Developing strategic decision-making skills
to carve out the optimal path to
marketplace success
3. Tactical Execution (~20%)
• Effective agency management
• Launching and assessing marketing
program performance
Mission The Fellows program gives candidates the
opportunity to develop marketing acumen and
management skills through a combination of
focused curriculum and consulting projects,
serving to elevate the caliber of marketing
students produced at McCombs and the reputation
of the Marketing Department overall. The
program is student led and managed, with support
from CCIMS and Marketing faculty.
Consulting Projects Fellows participate in marketing projects for
sponsoring companies in conjunction with their
classroom experience. Projects are conducted with
in-depth oversight from marketing faculty. These
projects close the learning gap, by allowing
Fellows to apply their learning experiences in the
classroom to real-world scenarios.
