COMMANDS
Mandatos
In Spanish, commands
are called “mandatos.”
A command is used to
tell some what to do or
what not to do.
Questions and
suggestions are not
commands.
You should not do that!
Will you wash the car?
You need to study more!
Examples of commands:
Wash the dishes!
Do your homework!
Eat your vegetables!
Don’t do that!
Take a bath!
Types of Commands
Commands include do’s
and don’ts.
Do’s are called

Regular Affirmative Tú Commands

affirmative tú
commands, those that
tell someone to do

To form an affirmative,
informal command,
simply take the
Él/Ella/Ud. form of the
verb in the present tense.
For example:
Eat the pizza!
¡Come la pizza!
Wash the dishes!
¡Lava los platos!
You try it!
