ABSTRACT
The development of palm oil industry grew rapidly not only brings positive impacts and contributions
to the state and society, but also negative impacts to the environment. One form of efforts to control
industrial wastewater of palm oil that is through the use of microorganisms in the decomposition of
complex organic compounds into simpler compounds. This research specifically focuses on the use of
bacteria that can hydrolize lipid content in the wastewater of palm oil industry. Samples was taken
from wastewater treatment plant of PT. AMP Plantation, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. Results of
research found 8 species of lipolytic bacteria: Aeromonas hydrophila, Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus
sp., Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella sp., Moraxella sp., Proteus vulgaris, and Staphylococcus
epidermidis, Klebsiella sp. were the most potential. Lipolitic bacteria with the highest lipolytic
hydrolyzability (hallo zone diameter on average 2.30 cm). While B. licheniformis was a bacterium with
the ability of lipolytic hydrolysis of lipid lowest (diameter hallo zone average of 0.55 cm)
Key words: Lipolitic bacteria potential, wastewater treatment.
