Press Release: No Swimming or Wading at Allan Yorke Park
on Lake Tapps due to High Bacteria Levels
UPDATED—1:30 pm – Wednesday, July 27, 2016
Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department continues to test/monitor for bacteria at the lake and
recommends people do not swim or wade within the enclosed swim dock area at Allan Yorke Park on
Lake Tapps. High levels of bacteria found in the water show an increased risk of gastrointestinal illness.
The Health Department has posted advisory signs at Allan Yorke Park and the City of Bonney Lake has
added yellow caution tape to the area. The Health Department will continue to monitor bacteria levels at
this location. When bacteria levels no longer show increased risks to public health, we will remove the
signs.
For more information, please contact Ray Hanowell at (253) 798-2845 ([email protected]), or
Austin Jennings at (253) 798-4715 ([email protected]).
