PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET HYDROGEN PEROXIDE _________________________________________________________________________ 1 ABOUT your medicine? Hydrogen peroxide is an oxidizing agent. It is used in the treatment of acute gingivitis, as a deodorant gargle and to clean the mouth after dental operations. 2 HOW should I use the medicine? Dilute one part of hydrogen peroxide solution with an equal part of water before use. Consult your pharmacist if you are not sure of the correct way to use your medicine. 3 What are the possible SIDE-EFFECTS of the medicine? Repeated use of hydrogen peroxide topical solution as a mouthwash or gargle may cause mouth irritation. The tongue may have a thickened furry appearance. 4 What PRECAUTIONS should I take? Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any other medicines, or if you develop an allergy while using this medicine. The symptoms of a drug allergy include one or more of the following: swollen face/eyes/lips, difficulty in breathing or widespread itchy skin rashes. 5 How should I STORE the medicine? Store the medicine in a dry place at room temperature, away from heat and direct light.
