EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO SELL THE SL 1000-B1 SLIDE GATE OPERATOR The Basics FRAME 1/4 inch cold rolled steel that has been gold zinc plated for resistance to moisture and other corrosive elements. MOTOR Leeson 1/2 horsepower, single capacitor, 115 VAC. GEARBOX 30:1 wormgear reduction in synthetic lubricant that wont thicken in cold temperatures. LIMIT SWITCH ARRANGEMENT Gearbox has integral, threaded shaft opposite from drive shaft. Two nuts, made from self-lubricating plastic, move along shaft as gate is moved, contacting switches located near the ends of the shaft. Adjustments are precise to within 1/2 inch. Allows gate to travel more than 40 feet. CHAIN Size 40 provided as standard for long service life. GATE SIZE LIMITATIONS Operator can handle gates up to 40 feet long and weighing as much as 1000 pounds. INTEGRAL ACCESSORY TRAY Made of 14 awg gold zinc plated steel, this tray provides space for loop detectors, other accessories and LiftMasters Power Fail Operation option. COVER Spin molded ABS plastic in medium gray color with decorative ribbing parallel to direction of gate travel. DIMENSIONS 15.25 inches wide by 20 inches deep by 25.75 inches high. OPERATOR POWER 115 VAC, 60 Hz using dedicated 15 amp or 20 amp circuit. On/Off switch provides easy power disconnect during installation and servicing. ACCESSORY POWER 24 VAC power is provided for a radio receiver, as well as two 115 VAC utility plugs. CONTROL INPUTS Operator has separate inputs for Manual Open, Close and Stop (used for three button station), Cycle (used for devices such as telephone entry, etc.), Fire, Radio Receiver, Exit Loop, Inside/Outside Interrupt Loops, and Interrupt Bar. Cycle and Radio inputs can operate in push to open/push to close manner. Each input is protected against voltage spikes by surge suppressers and opto-isolators. RIGHT/LEFT OPERATION Switch on board lets installer specify whether gate opens right or left. TIMER Adjustable from 1 - 250 seconds. MAG LOCK CONTROL Relay provided to activate and deactivate magnetic lock on gate. 115 VAC SWITCH AND RECEPTACLES A switch box and on/off switch is pre-installed for easy connection of 115 VAC power to the operator. Two utility plugs are provided for 115 VAC accessories and/or installer tools. Connections to switch, utility plugs, and operator are all pre-wired for your convenience. WARRANTY 3 years on mechanical assemblies and 2 years on electronics. POWER FAIL OPERATION This option can be ordered pre-installed or in kit form. Includes DC motor, 12 volt gel cell battery, larger V belt, and motor control relays (mounted on a bracket which secures battery to accessory tray). All battery charging circuitry already contained on SL 1000-B1 control board. No auxiliary limit switches to install. May be set to drive gate to open limit or to close limit when AC power fails. Built-in momentary delay ensures that brown-outs do not cause false starts. A crank is provided for manual opening of the gate if the Power Fail Operation option is not purchased. Rev C Doc 6001229 (01-20266) Page 1 of 3 Other Important Features DIAGNOSTIC LEDs There is a status LED for every input and output. Combined with the separate inputs for every type of device, these LEDs make installation and troubleshooting a snap. DYNAMIC BRAKING Provides quick, precise stopping of the gate and eliminates gate coasting. PLUG-IN LOOP DETECTORS The gate operator comes with three convenient built-in connectors which accept LiftMaster-supplied plug-in loop detectors. Instead of wiring through relay inputs, now inside/outside interrupt loops and exit loops can be plugged directly into the gate operator board, greatly simplifying installation of the complete system. TAILGATING SUPPRESSION When car enters and then clears the inside interrupt loop while the gate is being opened, the operator stops the gate and then starts to close it. If a second car comes onto the inside interrupt loop, operator stops the gate but does not reverse direction. When the loop clears (presumably by second car backing off loop), the operator finishes its closing operation. This feature may be turned off if not needed. IMPROVED SAFETY CAPABILITIES If the gate hits an obstruction when opening or closing, the operator stops and then backs up. The operator can be set either to suspend operation immediately if it hits something, or to try continuing its operation twice before suspending operation. Operator has separate obstruction sensitivity adjustments for opening and closing, allowing the installer to adjust the gate on unlevel surfaces (e.g., less sensitive going uphill than downhill, since uphill travel appears as resistance to the operator). MASTER/SLAVE CAPABILITY OPTIONS Page 2 of 3 LiftMaster Master/Slave systems provide synchronization, added safety, reduced wiring and simplified gate control settings. Two SL 1000-X1 Slide Gate Operators can be teamed in any of four different configurations: Bi-Parting, Bi-Parting Latch, Trap and Tandem. Power Fail Operation Option: See bottom of previous page. Loop Detector Modules: Plug directly into the control board, reducing cumbersome wiring and valuable installation time.
