Pre requisites:
Power Electronics, Electrical Machines – I and Electrical Machines – II.
Course Educational Objectives:
The lab is intended for the students to get hands on experience in dealing
with:

Power semiconductor devices,
✤
Power converter circuits and
✤
Power converter-fed motor drives
Course Outcomes:
After completion of this lab the students acquire practical knowledge in:
✤
Study of SCR, MOSFET and IGBT and their firing circuits
✤
Various converter with R and RL loads
✤
Converter fed drives
The following experiments are required to be conducted as
compulsory experiments:
1.
Study of static characteristics of SCR, MOSFET & IGBT
2.
SCR firing circuits and driver circuit for MOSFET/IGBT
3.
Single Phase AC Voltage Controller with R and RL Loads
4.
Single Phase fully controlled bridge converter with R and RL loads
5.
Single phase parallel inverter with R & RL loads
6.
Simulation of single-phase full converter using RL load.

Simulation of three phase AC voltage controller using RL & RLE
load.
8.
Simulation of buck/boost converters
In addition to the above ten experiments at least any four of the
experiments from the following list are required to be conducted:
1.
Simulation of single phase Inverter with PWM control
2.
Simulation of a DC-DC chopper fed DC drive
3.
Simulation of DC-AC Inverter fed Induction motor drive
4.
Single Phase Half controlled converter with R and RL load.
5.
Three Phase fully controlled bridge converter with RL load.
6.
Single Phase series inverter with R and RL loads.
7.
Speed Control of D.C. motor using dual AC/DC converter.
