Landscape Attributes:
Tricolor Stromanthe is a dense multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with an upright spreading habit of growth.
Its relatively coarse texture can be used to stand it apart from other landscape plants with finer foliage.
This shrub will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and should not require much pruning, except
when necessary, such as to remove dieback. It has no significant negative characteristics.
Tricolor Stromanthe is recommended for the following landscape applications;
- General Garden Use
- Mass Planting
- Container Planting
Plant Characteristics:
Tricolor Stromanthe will grow to be about 3 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 3 feet. It has a low
canopy. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately
10 years.
This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and
shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich soils. It is
somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. This plant can be propagated by division.
This is a selected variety of a species not originally from North America.
