Adonida Palm (Christmas Palm)
This tree grows 15 to 20 feet and grows well in some shade to full sun.
Alamanda Bush
This bush grows 3 to 6 feet tall and works well as a mass planting. This shrub will grow
well with some shade to full sun.

This is a pyramidal shaped tree that produces red berries and will grow to around 40 feet.

Croton Petra
This is a very colorful bush throughout the year. It is much like the Croton Mamey but
has a wider leaf and requires more shade.

Crown of Thorns
This plant works well as a border plant or mass planting. It blooms all year and reaches
about 1 to 2 feet in height and also spreads. This plant is very thorny.
Downy Jasmine
This is a fast growing shrub usually mounding with long weeping vine like branches. It is
an evergreen and blooms most of the year with clusters of small white star shaped
flowers. It can easily be kept in a more uniformed shape with trimming and is somewhat
drought tolerant.

Multi Colored Dracaena
This is a slow growing plant but can reach 15 feet in height. It has colorful, narrow leaves
that are green with red edges. It does best in filtered sun.
Dwarf Red Ixora
This is a very compact shrub that works well in mass plantings or as a low hedge. It has
small green leaves and blooms most of the year. It blooms profusely in the spring into
summer.

Dwarf Podocarpus
This shrub has dark green foliage and responds well to pruning. It is easily maintained

East Palatka Holly
This Holly tree is low maintenance and is easily kept in a pyramidal shape. It blooms
small white flowers in late spring and produces decorative red berries. It is an evergreen
with dark green leaves and grows to 30 feet tall. It does best in full sun to some shade.
Eleagnus Silverthorn
This is a huge sprawling shrub and can reach 15 feet in height. It is a very fast grower
that works well as a hedge and is an evergreen. The under side of the leaves are a silver
gray color. It grows in full sun to partial shade.

Eugenia Hedge
This shrub makes a great hedge. It grows fairly quickly and can be maintained at any
height. It is a thick evergreen and does best in full sun. On the downside, it does begin to
die out after about 7 years.
European Fan Palm
This small tree works great as an understory planting of taller trees. It does well in either
full or partial sun. It is a perfect accent planting and it is drought tolerant, cold hardy and
low maintenance. Typical height is around 5’ but can reach 15 feet.

Fakahatchee Grass
This native grass can be found as far north as Ohio. It does well in full sun or shade. It
grows to 5 feet and stays very bushy. It does best in moist soil and typically is used
around marshy damp areas.
Firebush
This is a native shrub and a fast grower. It blooms most of the year with red and orange
tubular flowers. It works as a mass planting or as a maintained hedge in full sun to partial
shade. This shrub will go dormant in very cold weather but usually recovers very well.

Firecracker Bush
This unique bush got its name because of how it blooms. Its red showy flowers resemble
firecrackers exploding. This plant requires a mostly sunny location and blooms from
spring through fall.
Flax Lily
This plant works best as a border planting and the leaves are green with white outlines. It
does bloom a dark blue to purplish color but is almost insignificant. Plan on using this
plant for its leaf color. It grows to about 2 feet tall.

Red Fountain Grass
This grassy plant grows to about 3 feet tall and is very showy with its burgundy colored
foliage. It does best in full sun with well drained soil.
Foxtail Palm (1,2 or 3 trunks)
This is a beautiful single or multi stem palm tree. It has bushy fronds and grows to around
25 feet tall.

Golden Dew Drop
This attractive tree grows to 15 feet tall but is easily kept under control by pruning. It
blooms blueish purple clusters of flowers and bares golden clusters of grape like fruit.
The birds and butterflies love this tree. This tree needs full sun to partial shade.
Helen-Johnson Bougainvillea
This is the only true dwarf Bougainvillea. It’s compact in size and offer beautiful color
for the landscape. It needs mostly sun and well drained soil. This grows to about 2 feet in
height.

Hibiscus Tree
This tree blooms almost daily and reaches about 6 to 8 feet tall. It prefers moist well
drained soil. Unexpected cold snaps will defoliate this tree quickly but usually recovers
pretty well.
Holly Fern
This is a nice dark green ground cover. It need full to mostly shade and needs to stay
moist. This plant grows to about 2 feet tall.

Ilex Schillings
This shrub grows in full sun to partial shade and works very well as a mass planting,
edging or border plant. This is a mounding plant that spreads through shoots from the
roots. This is a very hardy evergreen.
Indian Hawthorn
This is a very mounding evergreen shrub. It flowers in the spring with small white to pale
pink bloom. This very compact plant likes full sun to partial shade and works well as
mass planting, border planting or edging and is easily maintained at about 2 feet in
height.

Ixora Maui
This bush blooms all year with a reddish orange cluster. The leaves are a bronze-green
color which adds nice texture to the landscape. This plant does require additional
fertilizer for best results. This bush can reach a height of 3 feet. This is also available in
yellow.
Jatropha Bush
This bush blooms very dark red almost all year. It can reach heights of 6 feet but is best
to keep cut back so it stays bushier. It grows in full sun to light shade.

Ligustrum Hedge
This shrub has a very dark green leaf and works great as a hedge. It can get very large but
is easily maintained at 6 feet. This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade. It does
flower in the spring but it is not very showy.

Ligustrum Tree
This tree works great as a large, ball topiary or can be maintained with a more natural
umbrella type canopy. This is an evergreen that blooms small white flowers in the spring.
Live Oak Tree
This is a Florida native tree. It gets huge reaching heights of 60 feet and a canopy width
of 60 feet. This tree has been know to live for 300 years and adapts well to most soil
conditions. It is semi deciduous and drops it leaves in the spring.

Loropetalum
This is a very colorful bush that works well as a specimen plant or as a foundation
planting. It is very low maintenance but it does need rich well drained soil.
Magnolia (DD Blanchard)
This tree has a compact and pyramidal growth habit and is an evergreen. It blooms a
large creamy white flower and is very fragrant. The leaves are a very shiny green on top
and the bottoms are almost a rusty color. This tree can reach heights of 50 feet.

Magnolia (Little Gem Dwarf)
This tree works well in tight spaces that need a little height. It is an evergreen with shiny
green leaves on top with a rusty color underside. It blooms a creamy white flower from
mid summer through late fall. It is a low maintenance tree that can reach up to 20 feet
tall.
Macho Fern
This fern gets very big. It reaches to 4 feet tall and spreads. It is one of the few ferns that
will grow well in sun to partial shade.

Muhly Grass
This beautiful grass plant blooms pinkish purple through late summer and fall.
It can reach heights of 4 feet and likes a dry to moist well drained soil.
Oleander Tree
This evergreen tree is spectacular in full bloom. They are available in pinks, purple, white
and red. This tree will reach heights of 20 feet and is easily maintained with 1 heavy cut
back per year.

Orange Bird of Paradise
This specimen plant has one of the most beautiful blooms you will ever see. It does
require extra fertilizer through spring and summer and likes more sandy soils. Please
note: this plant can take up to 10 years to get it first bloom.
Pampas Grass
This is a very large clump grass that bloom huge plumes from late summer through fall.
It is drought tolerant and likes well drained soil.

Parsoni Juniper
This is a ground hugging evergreen conifer that does very well in full sun. It will do well
in shade but will not stay as thick and full. It prefers more acidic soils and is very drought
tolerant.
Petite Oleander
This plant has very showy long lasting flowers. It stays fairly compact and is easily
maintained at about any size. It can reach 8 feet in height if left go. It is drought tolerant
but will do fine in moist to dry soils.

Philodendron Seloum
This grows to be a very large plant. It can reach heights to 20 feet and spread 8 to 10 feet.
It has dark green, shinny, large leaves. It does well in full sun but will adapt for full
shade. This plant is best used to absorb excess water in the landscape.
Philodendron Xanadu
This is more of a dwarf type plant that usually grows 2 1/2 feet round. This plant does
best in shade to some sun. It has rich green leaves and lives to about 30 years.

Pigmy Date Palm
This is the most widely used palm in the Florida landscape today. This slow growing
palm is available in single or multiple trunks and is very low maintenance. This is a
perfect understory tree and is drought tolerant.
Plumbago
This is a very attractive bush with beautiful light blue flowers when it blooms. This plant
does not like much water which causes it to look brown and unhealthy. In the right place
it is gorgeous and grows to about 6 feet by 6 feet.

Podocarpus
This is a dark green ‘pine like’ plant. It works great as a hedge for screening and can get
very tall. It is somewhat of a fast grower and responds well to pruning and stays very full.
It likes a well drained soil.
Powder Puff
This is a very attractive shrub in mass plantings. It blooms profusely of deep pink to red
puffy flowers. It is easily maintained at any height but can reach 15 feet. This bush will
attract Honey bees so be careful of where it’s used. It likes a well drained moist soil but
will adapt to about any soil condition.

Wild Petunia Purple Shower
This is a grassy type plant that never quits blooming little purple flowers. It reaches about
3 feet tall and spreads through its roots. It works best as mass plantings and like wet soil.
Queen Palms
This is a very popular palm in the Florida landscape. It can reach heights to 50 feet and
its leaves grow 4 to 8 feet in length. This palm prefers a well drained soil and is a
medium to fast grower.

Red Crinum Lily “Queen Emma”
This is a very attractive focal point plant that offers plenty of color though its leaves. It
does a few large lacy flowers usually though the drier periods of the year. It likes full sun
to some shade and well drained soil.
Sable Palm
This palm is the state tree for Florida and South Carolina. It can reach heights of 60 feet
or so. It adapts well to a variety of climates and can survive very cold temperatures and
extreme heat and is drought tolerant. This trees leaves grow to about 6 feet long it blooms
a long stem of yellowish flowers which produce a black fruit.

Simpson’s Stopper
This shrub can grow in nutrient poor moist soils. It can reach heights to 20 feet but is
easily maintained from 3 to 6 feet. It produces orange berries that attracts birds and is a
native shrub.
Variegated Ginger
This is an attractive upright growing plant that works well as an accent planting. It can
reach about 8 feet tall but the taller stalks can easily be cut out. It prefers shade to partial
sun.

Variegated Pittosporum
This is attractive shrub due to its white and green leaves. It is a fast grower when it is
young but slows down as it matures. It does require regular pruning and works well as a
mass planting or hedge. It likes partial shade and partial sun.
Sweet Viburnum
This shrub makes a very dense dark green hedge. It can be managed at any height and
responds well to pruning. It likes average to moist soil and will wilt quickly if it get too
dry but it does recover very fast.

Viburnum Suspensum
This shrub grows much like the Sweet Viburnum but has a more compact leaf. It works
very well as a hedge 6 to 12 feet tall. It does best in full sun to some shade.
Walter’s Viburnum
This shrub works well as a mass planting or can be left grow into a hedge. It is a slow
growing evergreen with very small leaves. It blooms late spring to early summer for a
very short time but it almost looks like a snowball in full bloom.

Washingtonia Palm
This palm gets very tall and can reach heights of 100 feet or more. It likes a well drained
rich soil but adapts well to poor soil conditions too. The leaves get about 5 feet long and
4 feet wide. This tree likes full sun and will tolerate some shade.
Wax Myrtle
This unique evergreen is a native and can be pruned into a hedge, mass planting or left
grow into a tree. It survives a wide variety of soils from salt to marshy areas and dry land.
It is a fast grower and does well in full sun or shade.

Weeping Hibiscus
This works great as an accent planting or focal point. This tree blooms continuously and
has a delicate look about it due the limbs weeping. It will defoliate quickly with sudden
cold snaps but will usually recover well. It likes well drained soil.
Weeping Yaupon Holly
This is a beautiful erect growing tree with downward swept branches and it adds a lot of
interest to the landscape. It a very hardy tree moderately fast grower to 15 feet or so and
is an evergreen.

White Bird of Paradise
This very tropical looking plant grows 12 to 15 feet tall. It likes full sun to some shade
average watering but not wet. It blooms large white purple flowers from late winter to
late spring and attracts birds and butterflies.
