This description is for Sweet Broom (Cytisus
x spachianus):
Cytisus x spachianus is also known as
Easter broom, as it flowers at Easter
time, and Sunshine Tree due to its
mass of bright golden yellow flowers.
The leaves are a dark green colour and
as this is an evergreen plant you can
appreciate it all year round. The
flowers have a nice fragrance; this
species has been given an Award of
Garden Merit by the RHS. You shouldn't
prune this plant too much as it may
struggle to regrow. It likes acidic or
neutral soil and a sheltered spot in the
garden.
