VERITAS EDUCATION VERITAS NetBackupTM 4.5 for Oracle for Solaris COURSE DESCRIPTION COURSE OUTLINE Delivery Method Instructor-led Oracle Concepts Oracle's Architecture The Oracle Instance Environment Variables and Functions Starting, Stopping, and Querying an Oracle Database Duration 3 days Course Objectives This course provides comprehensive instruction of Oracle database backup, recovery, and restoration using VERITAS NetBackup™ 4.5 for Oracle and the Oracle9i Recovery Manager (RMAN). You will learn to configure and utilize these tools to perform various backup and recovery operations. You will learn to: • Identify components of the Oracle architecture • Establish and manage a recovery catalog and link it to the target database • Install the VERITAS NetBackup for Oracle extension and link it with RMAN • Perform offline (cold) and online (hot) backups of complete Oracle databases as well as specific components • Establish backup policies specifically for Oracle databases • Create RMAN scripts and templates using VERITAS NetBackup for Oracle wizards Who Should Attend This course is designed for database administrators (DBAs) responsible for the maintenance of Oracle databases within their enterprise environment and system administrators responsible for the backup and recovery of systems within their enterprise environment. Prerequisites This course is designed with consideration to both DBAs and system administrators. A basic familiarity with operating VERITAS NetBackup™ is expected. Knowledge of Oracle9i is desirable, but not required.
