Sons of Jubal Retreat Reflections
The Sons of Jubal retreat was a blessing to everyone.
We welcomed many new members to this year's
retreat. Over 250 men registered, and although there
were a few cancellations, we had another record
attendance. Thanks goes out to our officers led by
Rhon Carter for planning the event. The worship times
were powerful led by pastors Jim Pitt, Dr. Don
Hattaway, Wes Lawson , and our Executive Director Dr.
J. Robert White. Thanks to new member Dennis Allen
of Truett McConnell College for the theme song "I Am
the Way." Also, thanks to sectional leaders Monte
Nichols, Dr. Ben Caston, Ed Lawrie, Roger Waters and
our accompanists David Carnes, Andy Daughtry, Phillip
Allen, Nelson Fleming,Tommy Rutledge, Brian Faglier,
Chad Todd, and Trey Kennedy.
Our auxiliaries were fantastic led by Keith Chandler,
Paul Aday and Steve Brown. Lastly, thank you to Dana
Bailey, Judy Crumley, Mary Margaret Willis and
Consultants Eddy Oliver, Steve Brown and Keith
Chandler for all the assistance making this retreat an
excellent testimony for Georgia Baptists.
Today's Devotional from Lawton Roberts
Lawton serves as a deacon and as director of the Men
of Praise--a 30 voice men's choir at FBC Snellville. He
is also an active member of the Sons of Jubal. I know

You’ve heard it said many times that even at Christmas
time, when hearts should be joyous, studies indicate
that there may be more troubled hearts than during any
other time during the year. Truth is, even those in
ministry may be suffering from a troubled
heart. Perhaps it’s due to the loss of a loved one this
past year, or some other adverse event that has
threatened to take away your joy. It’s OK to have
troubled hearts over significant events in life, so long as
they don’t linger indefinitely and ultimately rob us of our
joy. Even our Lord had a “troubled spirit” as reported in
John Chapter 13 just prior to facing His crucifixion on
the cross. So I ask that you turn with me to the Gospel
of John, Chapter 14, and receive the same “Treatment
for a Troubled Heart” that He left His disciples, at a time
when their hearts were surely troubled by His news that
He would be leaving them, and that one of the disciples
would betray Him.
Just like most ‘treatments’ for a medical condition,
whether it be physical, emotional, etc., the “Treatment
for a Troubled Heart” includes multiple ingredients or
components, each of which is vitally important to
ensuring the success of applying the overall treatment
plan.

Georgia Baptist Youth Choir Festival
Drawing Over 500 Each Year!
REEL Fest is a great event for students and leadership!
Many youth choirs and orchestras get “a shot in the
arm” after attending REEL Fest! This is a wonderful
opportunity for quality training, fellowship and
meaningful worship. We look forward to Ben Caston,
David Carnes and Steve Tyndall giving us leadership
during our rehearsals. We will have the privilege of
having the Truett McConnell Choir with us again
helping us with voice parts. We will also get to hear
them sing for us. It is always an honor to hear such a
wonderful choir. We will also be hearing a great
message from God’s Word on Friday night from State
Missionary Randy Mullinax who serves in Evangelism
Ministry.
We will have great hosts in Wayne Rickard and the
family at Zion Baptist Church in Covington. Come
expecting God to move in a dramatic fashion as we
worship Him through song. Come, let’s celebrate the
Lord together!

Note: We are pleased to pass along recommendations for those who render services that relate
directly to music and worship ministry for the local church. Though this is not an endorsement from
our department, we do want you to be aware of those that provide important assistance in local
church music ministry. We always reserve the right of refusal.
We are glad to post any specific music needs that you or your church may have (for example: music,
choir robes, hymnals, instruments, etc.). In addition, should you have any of these types of items that
you would like to donate to a church, we will place that information on this board for two consecutive
weeks. If, after the two weeks, you would like to continue the advertisement, you may make another
request to have it posted for an additional two weeks. To submit a request for your post, please reply
to this e-mail with "Help Board" as the subject line. Please be sure to include the contact information
