The exam will be based on the material covered in ME 587. This includes the following

Exam Philosophy
The examination is intended to determine the student’s grasp of optical fundamentals and
their application to specific problems. The ability to see what factors are important in a given
problem and what solution approach to use will be emphasized.
Exam Format
1.
The exam is open book written exam. One of the reference books listed above can
be used; however, any other materials such as supplementary notes, past homework,
past exams, etc. are not allowed.
2.
The exam will be two hours in length. It will consist of a number of problems to be
worked.
