Transcript
Brachial artery
 Commences lower border of teres major
 axillary vein on medial side
 median nerve lateral to it proximally but then crosses in front of it to lie medial
 ulnar nerve is posterior to it proximally but leaves it as it slopes downward thru the
medial IM septum
 Branches
o Muscular branches
o Nutrient branch to humerus – enters bone near coracobrachialis
attachment
o Superior ulnar collateral (to posterior ulnar recurrent)
o Inferior ulnar collateral (to anterior ulnar recurrent)
o Terminal: Radial and ulnar arteries (bifurcation in middle of cubital
fossa)
Radial artery
 Medial to biceps tendon and over its insertion
 Traverses along insertion of supinator
 Over the insertion of pronator teres under brachioradialis
 Over the radial origin of FDS and origin of FPL
 Over the insertion of Pronator quadratus
 Under tendon of BR
 Branches
o Inferior Cubital artery (antecubital radial flap)
o Radial recurrent artery
Ulnar artery
 Passes deep to the deep head of pronator teres (median nerve between the 2 heads)
 Passes under the fibrous arch of FDS with median nerve crossing it from medial to
lateral
 Lies on FDP radial to the ulnar nerve
 Branches
o Common interosseous artery
 Anterior interosseous artery
 Posterior interosseous artery (gives rise to interosseous
recurrent artery)
