What’s going on with CLEOPATRA?
By Jessica Lee
Hey! Yeah you! Did you hear about Cleopatra-the Queen of Egypt? If you haven’t, continue
reading this!
So a couple years ago, Cleopatra was all over the news because she had married her 12 year
old brother, Ptolemy XIII, to keep the family power in their hands. Ew right? But as she was
married to him, she fell in love with a different man whose name is Caesar. His name should
sound familiar to you because he was our emperor! Our leader fell in love with an enemy!
Can you believe it? During their relationship, they had
a child together and named him Caesarian. But soon

after, Cleopatra met a man named Antony. They had

two kids together and named them Alexander Helios
and Cleopatra Selene II. Antony is a man who used to
be friends with Caesar. After our leader, Caesar was
assassinated; Antony and Octavian (Caesars nephew,
and adopted son) killed more than 100 senators, and
2000 businessmen who had plotted against Caesar.
After, they divided the empire up into three parts,
along with another ally. But, they ended up turning
against each other. A little after Antony and Cleo’s
relationship started to fall, they ended things between
each other.
Antony broke it off and ended up marrying Octavia.
Octavia is Octavian’s sister, which made the
relationship between Antony and Octavian even worse.
Octavia and Antony were not the best couple and things
This is what Cleopatra is
did not work out between them. So, he ended up
said to look like
returning back to Cleopatra. After they got back
together, they returned back to Egypt to rule it as a
family. Octavian accused them of planning to rule Rome together and declared war on them.
When Octavian’s armies landed in Alexandria and closed in on the pair, Antony and
Cleopatra committed suicide together. Cleopatra had a crazy, and conflicted life. She caused
many problems for us Romans, and our leader. Now that she has died, we can live in peace
again with our great leader Octavian.
