Cancer Project Presentation Guidelines
We have been studying cell growth and division. Cancer is an important topic to study
because it is a serious disease that many people battle and also because it is a result of
cells that are dividing out of control. Cancer cells do not respond to the signals that
regulate the growth of most cells. These masses of cells, called tumors, can damage and
spread to surrounding tissue.
Your task is to create an informative Google doc presentation on a type of cancer. You
may work alone or with a partner (only ONE partner). Your group will present a
particular type of cancer to the class. You must inform me of the topic before starting
so that we have a variety of topics. First come, first served with topics. Each project will
include:







Brief history of the cancer such as: How long have we known about it? Who
discovered it?
Causes of your particular cancer
Symptoms that are seen in your type of cancer.
How does this particular type of cancer affect the body? How are the normal
bodily functions altered?
Treatments of your cancer (new and old)
Incidence and mortality/survival rates (any group or race more likely to get this
type of cancer? Why? Risk factors?)
Prevention of your type of cancer
Presentation:
All Google presentations must be shared with [email protected] and are due
Monday, March 5th before class. Please save your presentation under your name
(example: Bush_cancer presentation) so it is easy to locate. Presentations should be
between 6-9 slides not counting title or bibliography.

Things to keep in mind:
Once you have learned about your topic, be creative in your presentation to the class.
You want your presentation to be interesting and informative. Select a topic that
interests you and one that has ample information. Be sure that you are clear and that
your language is understandable by high school students. In other words, don’t write it
down if you don’t understand it! Use your own words.
