Civil Rights: Illustrated Scrapbook Directions Students will assume the identity of a person living through the Civil Rights Movement (1952-1968) and create a family scrapbook that would be passed down to following generations. This project must include a letter to your son or daughter explaining the importance of the Civil Rights Movement and why you have created this scrapbook (One typed page – 3 paragraphs). Also, this scrapbook must include all events listed below, which chronicle your experience through the movement, supported by two primary sources per event. Each event must be written as an eyewitness description. Event descriptions must be two full paragraphs. DUE DATE: Friday, April 21, 2017 Each event must include at least two of the following primary sources, or one that is pre-approved by the teacher: - Photos and a caption explaining the picture - Headlines or articles from a newspaper or magazine - Tickets to a speaking engagement - Speeches, poems, songs - Election results, campaign posters, debates, speeches - Supreme Court Rulings - Quotes from historic figures or eyewitnesses - Letters of correspondence - Propaganda posters, drawing, government issued ordinances List of Events (One per page) 1.
