REAARANGEMENT by using o-hydroxyacetophenone as starting
material and preparing different derivatives from it. And finally

 3-Acetyl pyridine chalcone derivatives were prepared by treating 3Acetyl pyridine and benzaldehyde with different substitution patterns and
these were screened for antimicrobial action using disc plate method.
Substitution with electron withdrawing groups like nitro
group
in
orthoposition and chloro in Para positions has shown activity against
Staphylococcus aureus.
