Child Abuse Prevention Month
Public Service Announcements
PSA 1 Copy

Every child deserves a great childhood. It’s essential for the future success of
our society.

When children grow up in safe, stable, nurturing homes and communities
they are more likely to become healthy, productive adults.

Adverse childhood experiences, like child abuse and neglect, rob us all of a
successful future.

These experiences cause toxic stress that damages children’s developing brain
architecture, resulting in poor school and workplace performance, increased
risk of addictions and criminal behavior, and long-term physical and mental
health problems.

We all have a role in helping children grow up in safe, stable, nurturing homes
and communities.

[Organization name] invites you to join them in recognizing Child Abuse
Prevention Month this April by visiting [website] to learn more about ways you
can improve the lives of children today in order to create a more prosperous
and productive North Carolina tomorrow.


All children deserve great childhoods because our children are the
foundation for our society, our community, and our future.

We know that when we raise children in safe, stable, nurturing homes and
communities they’re more likely to grow up healthy and become successful,
contributing members of their community.

When building a house we all know the importance of a sturdy
foundation…it’s the key to everything that comes later…. Like a house, as a
child’s brain grows the quality of the architecture establishes either a sturdy
or a fragile foundation for all of the development and behavior that follows.

However, when children grow up with abuse and neglect, the constant stress
of living in fear and “on alert” causes a toxic stress reaction that causes
toxic chemicals to flood their developing brains and bodies causing longterm harm.

Our greatest social problems – juvenile crime, drug abuse, and domestic and
community violence – are intricately and strongly connected with child
maltreatment and the challenges that families face in raising their children
in responsive and nurturing ways.

That’s why getting it right the first time is so important! We only get one
chance.

[Organization’s] vision is a state where all children grow up in safe, stable,
nurturing homes and communities!
