PM5 – see list, varies by year
* CAP PAP Educational Programs are intended for laboratories that are NOT subject to US regulations that
perform gynecologic Cytopathology.
** Laboratories are expected to enroll in the HistoQIP program that best suits their service (tissues / stains
offered). The BX program is limited to H&E (Hematoxylin and Eosin) stain only and does not offer special or IHC
stains. The Specialty Series includes modules for specialty histology laboratories (gastrointestinal, dermatologic
and urologic tract).
&
Laboratories are expected to enroll in all applicable immunohistochemistry and predictive marker surveys based
on their scope of service.
&&
Each year the PM5 program will offer different IHC markers to evaluate assay performance on a variety of
tissues and / or tumor types (see CAP Survey Catalogue for detailed listing)

All facilities utilizing automated instruments for TM testing must subscribe to the CAP JAT program. These
laboratories are also required to subscribe to the J program surveys to monitor the manual method used in the
laboratory for crossmatch and/or manual back-up testing.
All of the above programs will be offered in SI units where appropriate. Participants will receive
directions from CAP regarding SI unit data entry.
Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) Under the Auspices of the Laboratory:
Specific EQA programs are not mandated for POCT other than the ##Blood Gas programs specified above.
The CPSA Standards; however, require that appropriate external quality assessment (EQA) activities are
performed for ALL POCT (G.11.11.4). This includes participation in a formal EQA program where available or
in the absence of a formal EQA program, in an internal quality assessment scheme involving the distribution of
samples or replication of the examination within the laboratory.
