Social Media Marketing in 2014
There is no doubt that the phenomenon that is social media has played
a significant part in the way marketers can now target their audiences.
Social media gives us the powerful opportunity to engage on a
personal level and a much more frequent basis. This has now become
valuable to businesses in terms of brand awareness, lead generation,
increased sales, traffic drivers and cost efficient ROI.
So, if you haven’t already done so, now is the time to carefully plan your social media strategy for
2014 and we found the three links below hold very useful and insightful information.
The first contains some key findings about the latest statistics within social media that may surprise
you and affect how you target your niche communities. For example, did you know that the fastest
growing demographic in Facebook and Google+ is 45-54 and for Twitter it is 55-64?! Make note of

The second link is a report from 2013 among marketers and how they are using social media to grow
their business. It is an in-depth look at how marketers are and will be using the various forms of
social media. Page 17 is worth taking note of as it lists the benefits of social media with ‘Increased
exposure’ and ‘Increased traffic’ taking the top two positions. Marketers have recorded significant
positive results as a consequence of social media marketing. Page 29 shows how marketers will
change their future social media activities, with YouTube taking the top area for increased marketing
effort. P37 lists the social media platforms marketers want to learn more about, topped by blogging
and Google+. Interestingly, larger businesses want to know more about photo sharing sites like
Instagram.

The third link shows a beautiful infographic on the top social media marketing trends for 2014. The
insightful article lists expert views on their thoughts for what to look out for this year in social media
