My name is Morwenna and I am the Teenage Cancer Trust Education and Awareness Executive
covering the Essex area.
I deliver our amazing and FREE ‘Understanding Cancer Together’ presentations in Essex secondary
schools and colleges. This face to face presentation is delivered in a positive, engaging and ageappropriate manner and it is an ideal way to meet the needs of your pastoral provision in your
school.
‘Understanding Cancer Together’ covers:
•
What cancer is
•
Common Signs and Symptoms
•
The impact of cancer on a young person
•
Types of Treatment
•
Healthy Living to help try and reduce our risk of cancer in later life
•
The fantastic work by Teenage Cancer Trust and how students can get involved in
volunteering/fundraising.
By the end of the session all students should be equipped with the knowledge of early warning signs,
reducing their risk of cancer through healthy lifestyle choices and have the confidence to speak to
health professionals by becoming the experts of their own body.
The sessions last for 45-60 minutes although they can be adapted to suit your timetable. It is most
suitable for year 10 and above and most schools will bring the whole year group together to hear the
presentation.
Please check out our learning hub for further FREE resources for both KS3 and KS4:
