1. General
1.1 The switches shall be of the molded case type. As such they shall comply with the recommendations of
IEC 60 947-1, IEC 60 947-3 and IEC 60 947-5-1 standards, and the corresponding national standards (UTE,
BS, VDE, etc.).
1.2 The switches shall have an impulse withstand voltage of 8 kV
1.3 The switches shall have a rated operational voltage of 690 V AC (50/60Hz)
1.4 The short-circuit withstand current (Icw) for 1s shall be, depending on the rating, a minimum of:

1.5 The switches shall be able to function in conditions with industrial type pollution: degree of pollution III
as defined in the IEC 60947-1 standard.
1.6 The switches shall comply with the requirements of IEC 60068-2-30 (hot and humid climate) and IEC
60068-2-52 (salt mist) standards
1.7 The switches shall be able to control machine-tools; they shall comply with recommendations of the IEC
60204-3-1 standard, or the corresponding national standards (NF C 79-131, etc.); they shall comply with
CNOMO recommendations.
1.8 It shall be possible to supply the switch-disconnectors via the top or bottom terminals without any
reduction of electrical performance.
1.9 The switch range shall present a maximum of two frame sizes. The switches shall be available in 3 and 4
pole versions in the same frame size.
A safety (emergency-off) switch range with the same dimensions and the same technical data shall be
available.
1.10 Organization of production sites shall comply with the requirements of the ISO 9000 standard and the
ISO 14001 standard.
1.11 The design, the manufacture and the materials used for switches shall comply with European Directives
with regard to environmental problems.
1.12 The switches shall be designed to allow complete disassembly into single-material components, which
are nonpolluting or recyclable.
- plastics (thermosets or thermoplastics) shall be halogen-free,
- plastic parts shall be marked according to ISO 11469
- the switches shall be delivered in recyclable packaging
2. Construction and operation
2.1 The switch operating mechanism shall ensure independent manual operation in compliance with the
IEC 60947-3 § 2-14 standard. All poles and neutral shall close simultaneously in compliance with the IEC
60947-3 standard
2.2 The switch of the neutral pole shall be located and marked on the left. use The right switch pole may be
used as the neutral without any special precautions or de-rating (except for pole marking).
2.3 The switches shall be suitable for isolation (with positive contact indication) as defined in the IEC
60947-1 § 7.1.6 standard.
2.4 The operating mechanism shall be designed to guarantee the operating handle to indicate the O (OFF)
position only if the main contacts are physically open.
2.5 The switches shall be designed to be locked in the OFF position with up to three padlocks (with possible
ON position locking)

2.6 The distance between open contacts shall be greater than 8 mm
2.7 The switches may, have a visible break function as a standard function:
This function shall be integrated into the switch without increasing its size,
This function shall be carried out by an interchangeable transparent cover,
This function shall keep class 2 front face.
2.8 This kind of switch shall have also the contact indication function,
2.9 All the switches shall be designed with front face double insulation, which ensures a class 2 protection.
2.10 The following auxiliaries may be added without increasing the device’s size,
- two auxiliary contacts up to a rating of 250 A,
- four auxiliary contacts for the ratings above.
2.11 These common auxiliaries contacts shall be available for the entire range
2.12 These auxiliary contacts shall carry out 3 different functions: ON/OFF indication contact, early make
contact, early break contact.
2.13 The switch-fuses shall be equipped with rotary handles as standard, according to the following
configurations:
- Direct or extended front handle,
- Direct or extended lateral handle up to 250 A.
2.14 The extended handle shall conserve the disconnection functions, in particular the positive contact
indication function. The extended handle’s design shall provide a IP55 degree of protection
The A category endurance shall be achieved with the switch disconnector design for the positive contact
indication .
2.15 The A or B category endurance shall be achieved with the switch disconnector design for the visible
break indication
3. Installation and auxiliaries
3.1 The switches shall be designed for plate or panel mounting.
It shall be possible to mount the switches in any position.
3.2 Insulation accessories (terminal shields) shall be available for all switches ranges. For ratings up to 250
A, terminal spreaders shall be available with a pitch equal to that of the terminals
of the next highest frame size.
3.3 Connection and insulation accessories of switch disconnector range shall be identical to those used for
the equivalent moulded case circuit-breaker range.
3.4 Direct control of switch through the door shall provide IP40 degree of protection.
3.5 Manual transfer switch function shall be available with either
- mechanically interlocked front rotary handles,
- a one-piece central handle
- key-interlocked front rotary handles
3.6 A coupling accessory for TSE switch disconnector shall be identical to those used for the equivalent
moulded case circuit-breaker.
3.7 Upstream protection against overloads and short-circuits shall be achieved by a circuit-breaker.The
manufacturer shall provide a simple selection table for appropriate choice of upstream protection.
