AGAVE ‘BLUE GLOW’ Blue Glow Agave LOG Low water Full sun to part shade Attracts hummingbirds Rabbit resistant Deer resistant hybrid Why we love it… ‘Blue Glow’ is one of the most well-mannered and attractive agaves we’ve seen. It grows slowly and doesn’t reproduce with pups, so it stays compact enough to fit into tight spaces and is perfect for containers. Each of this small agave’s grey green leaves have a bright red margin edged with a thin yellow line. These colors really pop when backlit by the sun, making the leaf margins appear to glow. Though the succulent leaves are softer than most agaves, each tip is armed with a short red spine. After about 10-15 years, ‘Blue Glow’ will bloom only once; sporting lots of greenishyellow flowers with long red stamens on an 8-10 foot spike. This hybrid of Agave ocahui and Agave attenuata needs very little water once established, and it’s easy to grow in full sun or filtered shade. Lydia says: You can’t grow a true ‘Blue Glow’ from seed and, since this hybrid doesn’t pup, it will need to be replaced after flowering.
