Normal Distribution (continued)
Ex 1: If 𝑋~𝑁(50, 52 ), draw a diagram that represents the percent of data that have these values for X:
a) 𝑥 > 55
b) 40 < 𝑥 < 60
c) 𝑥 < 38
Ex 2: To run without causing damage, diameters of engine crankshafts for a certain car model must
fall between 223.91 mm and 224.09 mm. Crankshaft diameters are normally distributed, with a mean
of 224 mm and a standard deviation of 0.03 mm. What percent of these crankshafts are likely to cause
damage?
