BIODIVERSITY FUND: INVESTING IN TASMANIA’S NATIVE FORESTS 2013–14 The Biodiversity Fund’s targeted investment approach provides an opportunity to focus on environments that are rich in biodiversity but which are facing increasing pressures. Such pressures include loss of habitat connectivity through land use change and declining ecosystem function due to fragmentation, fire and the proliferation of invasive species. The Biodiversity Fund: Investing in Tasmania’s Native Forests 2013–14 is specifically targeting Tasmania in order to maintain and, where necessary, improve the condition and connectivity of native forest habitats with important conservation values, such as those native forests identified for protection through the Tasmanian Forest Agreement 2012. What is the Biodiversity Fund: Investing in Tasmania’s Native Forests 2013–14? The Biodiversity Fund: Investing in Tasmania’s Native Forests 2013–14 will invest in Tasmania over three years to improve the condition and connectivity of native forests in Tasmania (excluding Macquarie Island), particularly those with important conservation value, such as those native forests identified through the Tasmanian Forest Agreement 2012.
