No
Observation:
NO AEGIS® Ring
Waveform shows common
mode voltage from the PWM
drive. Voltage is capacitively
coupled to the motor shaft.
Shaft voltage may cause EDM
discharges in the motor
bearings and potential for
catastrophic motor failure.

Observation:
WITH AEGIS® Technology
Shaft voltage is discharged to
ground through the AEGIS®
conductive microfibers. Bearing
is protected from EDM damage.

Summary:
With NO AEGIS® technology, shaft voltages indicate potential for bearing
discharges and EDM (electrical discharge machining) damage in the
bearings.
With AEGIS® technology, shaft voltage is significantly decreased and
shaft voltages discharge to ground through the AEGIS® ring.
Recommendation:
To protect bearings from destructive shaft voltages, all VFD driven AC motors
should incorporate AEGIS® shaft grounding as a standard. Refer to AEGIS®
Bearing Protection Handbook for Best Practices.
AEGIS® Bearing Protection Rings are Manufactured in the USA
