CREATION
The stories of Aesop’s fable brought to life through movement, music and
poetry. The Youth Theatre group of the New World Theatre presents an
imaginative play of moral dilemmas and karma, communicated by young actors
and brought into a modern day setting. Based on four of the ancient fables of
Aesop, Not So Fable resonates the essential truths of human behavior that the
ancient Greek writer embraced thousands of years ago. Both complex and
compelling, the themes of Aesop have become classic reading in classrooms all
over the world enjoyed by children of every culture. Not So Fable has taken both
the sharp insights and the gentle humor of the fable and translated it into
scenes that are just as relevant today as in ancient Greece. Director Ruth Gillen has devised Not So Fable
to “ explore themes of self image and reflection ” using the musical and stage talents of her enthusiastic
young troupe. The Youth Theatre is the young persons’ acting group of New World Theatre Club,
Luxembourg. Along with their annual stage performances, the Youth Theatre has also performed at Villa
Vauban and in Brussels at the Festival of Anglophone Theatrical Societies (FEATS).
