Assignment – Phone Call – One Number Service
Concept:
Use Visio to make up a reasonably complete set of messages for the following
One Call Service scenario. Show the key objects / nodes that participate in
the communications from the Common Channel Signaling and Intelligent
Network architectures.
Document your protocol in Visio as a single sequence diagram.
Do just the high level application protocol. Do not consider TCP/IP, wireless,
etc. Just work from the level of Blackboard.
Specific Scenario:
Show the telecoms network signals and actions to implement this scenario:
1. Calling party calls your home number (it's some one you don't
especially like).
2. You are away from home at the time they call. You have set up your
One Number service to have all calls sent to your mobile.
3. You see the incoming call, see the name, and decide not to answer
4. The calling party gets your voice mail and leaves a message.
5. You get a voice mail indicator on your phone. (Guess you don't need
to pick up this one).
Note: most mobile phones do not get calling name from the network. The
network delivers a phone number and if that number is in your phone book
on your phone you see the name.
Hints:
NOTE: Make your protocol consistent with the signaling methods used in
the network for SS7 call set up, FreePhone or 800 service, etc.
Be clear what information you are assuming is in what places in the network
(add notes to your sequence diagram)
Tool:
Visio is available on the university computer systems. It is also available to
you free through the MSDNAA. See the course useful web sites.
