Engineering Outreach Student Time Line Tuesday, November 10, 2009: Assigned Monday, November 23, 2009: Proposal Due Monday, November 30, 2009: Project and Project Scope Finalized Monday, December 21, 2009: Project Due II. Description A. Proposal The proposal should include a description of the proposed project. Include whether your project can be posted on the class web-site. Include what contact information for you can be posted on the class web-site, if it is okay to post your project. Maximum length 2 pages. B. Content Literature searches Model developments Matlab/Simulink simulations Examples Case studies Comparisons C. Scope About 20- 30 hours of effort About the same effort as two take home exams, but spread out of a longer period Not work that you have already performed for work or a class Can be material that relates to your job D. Project and Project Scope Agreement The course instructor will review your proposal and accept it as written or work with you to modify your proposal ECE 522 Induction Machines Project Session23 EO November 10, 2009 E. List of Example Project Ideas 1) FOC of a DFIG – model development and examples 2) Short circuit analysis of DFIG – model development and examples 3) Full transient simulation of FOC using Matlab/Simulink 4) Comparison of current regulators for FOC – e.g. synchronous vs stationary current regulators 5) Unbalanced two-phase i/m – squirrel cage rotor; a main and an auxiliary stator windings 6) Bus transfer – development and examples 7) Impact of the presence of negative sequence voltage accompanying positive sequence excitation of a squirrel cage i/m (development and examples) 8) Transient simulation of a DFIG in Matlab/Simulink – development and examples 9) Transient wind turbine DFIG model in Matlab/Simulink – development and examples 10) Singled phased three phase i/m – development and examples 11) Inclusion of magnetic saturation of an isolated singularly excited induction generator – development and examples 12) Singularly excited induction generator connected to a large power systems – faults study, stability considerations 13) Squirrel cage to three-phase winding – development and examples 14) Student idea 15) On-line parameter identification for FOC 16) Sensor-less indirect FOC ECE 522 Induction Machines Project Session23 EO November 10, 2009
