MEXICO AND GLOBALIZATION Documentary Report 03 DE JUNIO DE 2016 Paola Preciado Osuna MEXICO AND GLOBALIZATION Globalization is an economic, technological, social and cultural scale process, which involves increased communication and interdependence among countries of the world uniting their markets, societies and cultures, through a series of social, economic and political transformations which they give them a global character this has integrated the world into one single economic system. This brings new challenges to every country and opportunities for economic growth, but it may also bring income disparity and poverty. Globalization encapsulates a reality usually presented in which people of a country or countries, individually or through any intermediaries, interact with people from other countries. The forces of globalization impose a new dynamic in international relations and a constant change in the world economic order. Mexico is important to strengthen and give meaning to the political and economic alliances with Europe, Asian countries and other emerging nations. Mexico has opened its economy to the rest of the world. The position in favor argue that it raises wages and standards of living, and supports economic growth. But the position in against say that globalization undercuts traditional labor and lifestyles while increasing wealth inequality. But really in the economic development, Mexico has excluded the majority of its population and even worsened their living conditions. Normally individual Mexicans benefit from globalization can be determined by two factors: their level of education and their economic circumstances. Many of the rich have invested money in the manufacturing industry while the underprivileged are being exploited. Many unique characteristics of Mexican culture are being lost due to this type of exploitation. Mexico has been involved, and often pioneer in the globalization processes in the world. It was the most important of the globalization process of the Spanish empire that began in 1492 country, and most important to declare independence of the same empire in 1810. With its 1910 revolution, was also a predecessor of the Russian Revolution of 1917. In the mid-1980, Mexico entered into the globalized economy when it joined the World Trade Organization. The resulting rapid growth of the manufacturing industry has forced many companies into bankruptcy. Many manufactures are attracted to Mexico because of its near to the US, cheap labor and relaxed rules for foreign investment. The sell to large-scale land where the developers of foreign-owned factories sale of agricultural land, agricultural production in Mexico has dropped. This increase in poverty particularly in the rural regions. Actually approximately 22 million Mexicans live in poverty. In 1994, they signed NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) which helped Mexico's GDP to triple from 1980 to 1992. Clearly, international trade is a major part of the growing Mexican economy, but the effects of globalization in Mexico do not have a positive impact on all citizens. Mexico is seeing all different effects of Globalization because different areas have had various levels of exposure so that the number of workers who can support their families in southern Mexico and stay out of poverty is still decreasing and during the peso crisis, incomes northern Mexico suffered much less than incomes in southern Mexico. A cause is the location because Northern Mexico was able to trade across the border of the US. Unfortunately, labor earnings in southern Mexico have decreased by over 10% since the 1990 and the workers who can support their families and stay out of poverty is still decreasing. The Mexican government has been, for the most part, supportive of trade expansion and development within the country. Another negative effect of globalization is drug trafficking. Over the past few years the number of large scale drug traffickers from Mexico is increasing and it is changing the US market for illegal substances. The Zapatistas are another example that has been negatively affected by globalization. The Zapatistas’ anti-globalization protests to maintain their traditional lifestyles and independence from the global economy are met with fear and resistance from globalization advocates, including the Mexican government. My opinion is that we have many advantages but we don’t improve the many opportunities, is necessary take awareness because the econoy probably can reduce. The globalization have a lot consequences principally to poor people because they don’t have neither benefit so that they are affected with all global movements. Finally is necessary that all Mexicans take our decisions about Mexico and they worry about the global situations. In conclusion that globalization in Mexico benefits some while harming others, free trade and investment do very little, if anything, to directly combat poverty. The consequences of globalization most affect those living in rural, agrarian, and often impoverished communities. The poors every day are most poors, on contrary rich everyday are most rich Sources: Anonimo. (S.F). APROVECHAMIENTO DE LA GLOBALIZACIÓN EN MÉXICO.
