The Church: Christ in the World Today
Final Performance Task Options for Unit 4
Important Information for Both Options
The following are the main ideas you are to understand from this unit. They should appear in this final
performance task so your teacher can assess whether you learned the most essential content.

The Church is one: united in charity, in the profession of faith, in the common celebration of
worship and Sacraments, and in the Apostolic Succession.

The Church is holy because, although Church members sin, the Church as the Body of Christ
is sinless.

The Church is catholic because it exists for all people and is the means of salvation for all people.

The Church is apostolic because Christ calls all Church members to share the Gospel of
salvation.
Option 1: Children’s Book
You have been hired to write a children’s book to explain one of the four marks of the Church. Follow
these guidelines in composing your book:

Explain one of the four marks of the Church in a way that is understandable to a child.

Include both illustrations and text.

Have a minimum of ten pages and a maximum of sixteen pages (excluding cover, title, and
dedication pages).
Option 2: PowerPoint Presentation
Create a PowerPoint presentation that teaches about the four marks of the Church. Follow these
guidelines in creating your presentation:

Feature text (typically bulleted), images, and music. (Be sure to cite the sources of the text,
graphics, and music at the end of the slide show.)

Include at least four relevant quotations from the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Create fifteen to twenty slides.

Write a script for the presentation that you will turn in with the PowerPoint.
