Luciano Pavarotti (1935-2007)
-An Italian operatic tenor who also crossed over into popular music, eventually
becoming one of the most commercially successful tenors of all time..
-Considered one of the finest tenors of the 20th century
-As one of The Three Tenors, Pavarotti became well known for his televised
concerts and media appearances.
-Performed at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
-Pavarotti was also noted for his charity work
on behalf of refugees and the Red Cross,
amongst others.

Andrea Bocelli (born 1958)
-Italian tenor, and singer-songwriter. Born
withpoor eyesight, he became blind at the
age of twelve following a football accident.
-Bocelli has recorded fourteen solo studio
albums, of both pop and classical music,
three greatest hits albums, and nine
complete operas, selling over 80 million
records worldwide. Thus, he has had success
as a cross-over performer bringing classical
music to the top of international pop charts.
-Seven of his albums have reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
-Known for many songs, including “Time to Say Goodbye” and his duet
with Celine Dion, “The Prayer”.
-Still an active performer, and performs semi-regularly in Tampa.
-He owns a home in Miami.

Bobby McFerrin (Born 1950)
-An American vocalist and conductor.
-Best known for his 1988 hit song
"Don't Worry, Be Happy".
-He is a ten-time Grammy Award winner.
-He is known for his unique vocal techniques,
including giving the illusion of instrumental
polyphony by singing an accompaniment alongside
the melody, using percussive effects and
making large jumps in pitch; as well as improvising
much of his performed music, including melody, chords and sounds in a form of
scat singing. He has performed and recorded regularly as an unaccompanied
solo vocal artist.
-He also collaborated frequently with other artists, from both the jazz and
classical worlds, performing ith such musicians as jazz trumpeter Wynton
Marsalis and cellist Yo-yo Ma.

Josh Groban (born 1981)
-An American singer, songwriter, musician,
actor, and record producer. His first four
solo albums are multi-platinum. In 2007, he
was charted as the number-one best selling
artist in the US with over 21 million He has
sold over 25 million records worldwide.
-His life changed when his vocal coach submitted a tape of him singing,
"All I Ask of You," from The Phantom of the Opera, to producer,
composer and arranger David Foster, who called him to stand in for an
ailing Andrea Bocelli to rehearse a duet, "The Prayer," with Celine Dion at
the rehearsal for the Grammy Awards in 1998.
-Josh has also performed with Sarah Brightman, Idina Menszel, and
performed at the2008 Grammy Awards with Andrea Bocelli in a tribute
to Luciano Pavarotti.

Maria Callas (1923-1977)
•American-born Greek soprano and one of the most renowned and
influential opera singers of the 20th century.
•She was praised for her technique and wide range; she had a very
versatile voice and could sing nearly any female vocal part.
•One of classical music’s best-selling vocalists.
•Has been described as the definition of diva.
•Known for her rivalry with Renata Tebaldi.
•Both talented as a musician and an actress.

Renée Fleming (born 1959)
-Her parents were both musicians.
-Known primarily as an opera singer, she
also recorded a jazz album and sang on
the soundtracks of “The Lord of the Rings”,
And “Rise of the Guardians”.
-She is fluent in several languages.
-In 2014, Fleming was the first opera singer to perform "The Star-Spangled
Banner" as part of the Super Bowl XLVIII pre-game ceremonies, performing
to a standing ovation and the largest audience in the history of American
television.
-Conductor Sir Georg Solti said of Fleming, "In my long life, I have met
maybe two sopranos with this quality of singing; the other was Renata
Tebaldi."

Sarah Brightman (born 1960)
-An English classical crossover lyric soprano, actress, songwriter and dancer.
-Began her career as a member of the dance troupe Hot Gossip and released several
disco singles as a solo performer.
-Credited as the creator of Classical Crossover, which is music having strong
classical influences but has a popular and accessible sound.
-In 1981, she made her West End musical theatre debut in Cats and met composer
Andrew Lloyd Webber, whom she married. She went on to star in several
Broadway musicals, including The Phantom of the Opera, where she originated the
role of Christine Daaé. The Original London
Cast Album of the musical was released in
CD format in 1987 and sold 40 million copies
worldwide, making it the biggest-selling
cast album of all time.
-Best-selling soprano of all time, with
worldwide sales of more than 30 million
records and 2 million DVDs.

Charlotte Church (1986)
-A Welsh singer-songwriter, actress and television presenter.
-She rose to fame in childhood as a classical singer before branching into pop music in
2005. By 2007, she had sold more than 10 million records worldwide including over 5
million in the United States.
-Her break came at age 11 when she sang Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Pie Jesu" over the
telephone on the television show "This Morning" in 1997, followed by her performance
on ITV's Big, Big Talent Show in 1997.
-Has performed with Josh Groban, Billy Gilman, and others.
