FORTEBRACCIO TEATRO
The FORTEBRACCIO TEATRO is a theatre company which has received recognition by the
Ministry of National Heritage and Culture since 1999.
The theatre company has been present at the major national theatrical festivals and reviews for
theatrical research and contemporary theatre, (such as Maggio Cercando I Teatri at the Festival of
Santarcangelo, Volterra, Castiglioncello, of the Colline Torinesi, Enzimi, Mittelfest, Bassano Opera
Festival, Primavera dei teatri, AltreScene, Fabbrica Europa, etc…) the FORTEBRACCIO TEATRO
lives through the artistic collaboration of Roberto Latini, Gianluca Misiti and Max Mugnai.
The recent theatrical shows produced constitute the RADIOVISIONI [radio vision] project differing
from the preceding project of “the soul and forms” which was mainly oriented towards the
possibilities of dramaturgic rewriting of certain texts. The RADIOVISIONI [radio vision] project has
brought the company to confront itself not with content but with a method, striving to reread the
written confines between words, music and sound.
From the mythic Oedipus to the play “BUIO RE_da Edipo a Edipo in radiovisione” (2003) [The Dark
King_from Oedipus to Oedipus in radio vision], passing via the metatheatrical approach of Hamlet
entitled “PER ECUBA _ Amleto, neutro plurale” (2004) [For Hecuba_Hamlet, neutral plural], up to
the technical experimentation with a graphic computer known as motion capture in “UBU
INCATENATO” By Alfred Jarry (2005) [UBU Chained], echoed for its pioneering spirit in “LE
MADONNE_personaggi shakespeariani in motion capture” (2006) [The Madonnas_Shakespearian
characters in motion capture], the project has been re-launched recently by a true and real scenic
concert entitled “IAGO” and clearly refers to Othello by William Shakespeare (2007).
The use of amplification has in recent years been the distinctive feature of the theatrical company.
Research has enabled further experimentation such as those from the third channel of RadioRai
(Italian radio station) for which the Fortebraccio Theatre has produced numerous rereadings of
classic or contemporary works. Among which “Cavalleria Rusticana” by Giovanni Verga [rural
cavalry] and “Splendore e Morte di Joaquin Murieta” by Pablo Neruda [splendour and death of
Joaquin Murieta].
Currently the company is involved in a project which explores possible different forms for scenic
[theatrical] writing. NNORD (2007) is the first performance culminating from this new research.
FORTEBRACCIO THEATRE is one of the founding groups of the ‘Associazione AREA06’ [Association Area
06] a structure currently employed by the Lazio Region for an artistic residence project for the development
and promotion of the “officina culturale” a project denominated as ‘cultural workshop’.
